When looking at the lifted Chevrolet Silverado Heavy Duty with a 6.6L Duramax diesel engine and stacks, you’d think that it would have the fortitude to beat any unassuming crossover in a pull. That’s probably true, unless that vehicle is a Volkswagen Touareg equipped with a V10 TDI engine and all-wheel-drive. It’s a crossover that possesses 553 pound-feet of torque.
After a brief struggle, featuring some hopping, clunking, and snapping, it’s clear who wins. While the ending result isn’t nearly as reckless as the Cummins Ram versus the Silverado HD V8 dually that took place in Oklahoma (nobody was dragged around a parking lot), we would like to see the Chevy win a pull or two. At least it can still lay claim to being a fantastic truck from the factory.

Need some weight in the back of that truck! That raised suspension didn’t help, either.
Why is it that my production for the silveerado are always right???
?????
I meant prediction…. I was saying that because every time that I saw the tug of war between either Chevy vs. Dodge or Chevy vs. Ford it’s not surprising that Ford and Dodge will win the tug of war against a chevy… Or in this case the Volkswagen Touareg
Always loved those VW V10 TDIs.
Too bad the rest of the vehicle wasn’t that strong.
Truck was in 2wd mode?.. street tires grip dry roads better than mud tires also…
This might sound like a stupid question, but how does one avoid tearing up one’s transmission in this kind of activity. Either vehicle would have to have been in “drive” in order to pull the other, but each was pulled backward at some point. I’m especially curious about the Touareg, because German vehicles are notoriously finicky…
I think had the Chevy been in 4WL or even High, it would have pulled the VW.
These little competitions are never matched up correctly. Now the VW crowd will be running around proclaiming how great VWs are.
I agree with Kiel. In all these videos of a Chevy 4X4 getting it a$$ handed to them, are they in four wheel low range?
I use to watch videos like these.. But the ones I’ve seen on here been unfairly matched.. This one is just quiet sad. I’ve seen chevy pull fords and vice versa same with dodge.. It also goes down to the guy who is pulling.. Those big jack up trucks really aren’t good to pull.. Also most the weight is in the front, cars have more equal weight distribution.. If he had some weight in the back he might could get better traction.. But still that car probably had sticky tires weight is better distributed compared to that truck.. You’ll have Volkswagen die hards try pulling a 20,000lb trailer, when they yank their rear wheels out they will be like bu..bu..bu but I saw it beat the chevy? Hopefully not..
I think the Silverado might be a 2WD truck, so that would put it at a disadvantage when it comes to traction.. The VW Touareg only comes in 4WD, and that V10 diesel probably has more torque which is what counts when towing anything.
