This Is The Face Of The 2014 Chevrolet C7 Corvette

Jalopnik got its hands on an advance issue of Road & Track… and it has the maw of the 2014 Corvette C7 all over it. This isn’t a rending, ladies and gents — this is the real thing.

As you can tell, the front fascia features some very pretty yet very aggressive features, including a huge intake, a curvaceous hood, and some LED and projector-beam goodness in the headlights. Also, the Stingray is back… not that we didn’t know that already.

Meanwhile, here’s the Corvette C7’s back.

Do you like the face?

Hat tip to Nick.

PS: watch the unveil of the C7 the evening of Sunday 13, 2013 right here on GM Authority.

  3. Yes, I like what I see here. This Vette resembles The F-12 Ferrari, but I don’t care, it outclasses the overprice Porsche 911 car and plenty of those other European so called classy sports cars.

  6. I love the front end, rear end not so much. The ass-end will have to grow on me with time. The fact that the round tail lights are gone is a bit disappointing, but they would look out of place on such a chiseled car, so I understand the switch.
As for the front end, the hood extractor is a meh subject for me, I like it on the ZL1 ‘tomahawk’, but from the spy shots of the Vette, it just doesnt seem to fit, but again those were only spy photogs.
I love the double bubble roof, I was told they provide better aero and slight downforce, I havent found anything to back that up, but maybe. I see it as a styling/aesthetic and a little more head room in the cabin.
Headlights are ok, I think it is really hard to figure out what to do with big LEDs, I do like the LED ‘L’, or hockey stick, shape ‘tube’ similar to that found on the ATS headlight units.
Front grille looks good, no stupid smiley face like so many super cars and sports cars are doing.. Huayra I’m looking at you, here. And F12berlinneta don’t think youre smile is getting off scot-free either.
I like the return of the more pronounced fender and hood humps à la Stingray.
Even the more chiseled side mirrors look good.
From the interior spy shots the seats look to be wonderful in all form of support and comfort while also keeping your ass planted like velcro, though I’m sure suede and optional alcantara inserts are more like 😉
Hard to tell, but it appears like the front grille has integrated brake ducts.
The sidemarkers are a bit weird to me, 8-12″ long seems a bit extreme but maybe they actually will look good on the finished product, we’ll see Sunday night!

I just can’t get over the rear end, it just has so many ‘pockets’ and basically alcoves. But then again, it’s that slight awkwardness that keeps you looking at it. It similar to how I’ve always seen modern Lamborghinis, sure they are stealth like and very striking, they have no problem capturing your attention (infact the same can be said about the first generation CTS), but it’s the curves that you may not even notices that captures you eye for extended periods of time. My absolute favourite part of the 2003-2007 CTS was the C-pillar where it curves down in the the shoulder of the car just above the rear wheel arch and into the trunk lid. That contour was a black hole to the eye and it’s attention!

The current Z06 and ZR1 had/has hydroformed aluminum frame rails, where as the base C6 used steel, even the base C7 uses aluminum (current Z06 weights shy of 3200lbs, IIRC.. And the ZR1 puts another 150lbs on top of that). Carbon fiber all around; the panels, bulkhead, and floor-of the base car-will be fashioned from composites on even the base C7. Closing in on 3000lbs is doable. GM said a sub 4 second 0-60 time for the C7 with LT1, so loosing 300lbs in base form with that est.20hp bump (they are estimating/saying 450hp, I still believe it’ll be closer or more than 470) should make a high 3 second 0-60 reality.

I cannot wait to see NAIAS live floor pictures… and better yet, I cannot wait to drive one.

    1. The Viper looks like a kit car. Front looks GREAT to me, looks like a super car, but still looks like a Vette to me, can’t explain why.

  11. Bad Ass Super Affordable WORLD Supercar. And you don’t have to be a sultan to own it. Bravo GM!!! Finally, a daring, bold, striking, muscular, angular, brilliant interpretation of the Corvette. 12. I think the shape of the grille opening is sort of nasty (in a negative way), but it could’ve been worse. I do like the overall shape of the fenders and hood; and, ignoring the LED fad, the shape of the headlights seems to be a step up.

    1. I wouldn’t count the LEDs as a fad. They are here to stay for a while. Daytime running lights are mandatory in Canada and Europe (I don’t think they are in the US, yet). LED are bright without projecting light (perfect for serving as a visibility marker, as DRLs are intended) and consume very little power and require little current.

  13. Very nice, agree with most of what andrew said, I think this is the generation the corvette goes from having the perception of being a “cheap” sports car that can only win on the drag strip to a truly world class supercar that competes with the best in all areas, exterior design, interior, handling, and performance. I like what Ive seen so far, keep it up GM!

Just wish the rear end wasn’t so polarizing…

  14. This looks AWESOME. The front looks sexy as hell and although I was nervous upon hearing that the ’14 Vette would have taillights resembling those of the Camaro, it looks way better than I thought. Well done GM

  15. Looks good. It still looks like a Vette. The sharper lines will grow on people over time. It’s definitely not as extreme as people are making it out to be.

  16. Love the front, rear not as much. Hate that I won’t be able to afford one until it’s about 5 or so years old. But I really like that the current ones will probably come down in price (used) big time, once these hit the market.

  17. It looks hungry!

  18. GLAD they ditched that nasty rear dome window and those camaro influenced tailights are SEXY and furious … the front end i was afraid that they wouldve dropped the ball with too much Europeon influences but looks pretty aggressive… well just have to see tomorrow wont we ? 😉

  19. I agree ith Alex. Very pretty yet very aggressive. And with those who said it looks like a more upscale supercar yet still basically like a Vette. Awesome job on the front end, GM! I cannot wait to see the whole car, in person, down the line!
