From the Buick LaCrosse, to the Chevrolet Cruze, to the Cadillac ATS, and even the GMC Terrain, General Motors has announced that it has finally passed the one-million-unit annual sales mark when it comes to vehicles that achieve 30 mpg on the highway in the United States. It’s the first U.S. automaker to do so.
The number is aided by the increased demand for its compact and fuel efficient vehicles, which posted a 39 percent sales gain overall for 2012, according to GM. In total, almost 40 percent of all GM vehicles sold in 2012 packed a four-cylinder engine under the hood. But considering the rapid evolution of the market, we’d like to see the automaker reach for one-million 35-mpg annual vehicle sales in America.

Wait, so a Cadillac sport sedan designed to compete with the best is more fuel efficient than a comfy cruiser based on the chevy cruze from Buick. See anything wrong with this picture? Either the Caddy sacrificed too much power, or the Buick has too much power. I think its a bit of both.
The ATS has new powertrains, the Verano has old ones. The Verano will get a few mechanical updates sooner or later.
