Chevrolet Releases Video Showing Silverado Testing With Beadlock Wheels

General Motors appears to have left us an Easter Egg in a recent video in the form of a peculiar 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. As with the video demonstrating an engine testing on the tilt sled, which featured the upcoming twin-turbo 3.6L “LF3” V6 engine, we believe that this video of the Silverado shows what could be Chevy’s answer to Ford SVT Raptor in the opening scene.

It’s brief, and it’s right at the beginning, but we don’t remember Chevrolet mentioning anything about beadlock wheels for the 2014 Silverado when it launches this spring, probably because they weren’t ready to talk about what’s beyond the Z71 package. But if our USPTO discoveries are any indicator, we may be gazing at early testing footage of an upcoming ZR2 variant — a surefire Raptor fighter.

We posted the video late last week, but as a refresher, here it is again. Look closely in the opening seconds. Beadlocks, baby. Beadlocks.

  1. If a new wheel size for a vehicle is not tooled up and validated we use aftermarket wheels for vehicle testing/development. This may be the case.

  2. Finally someone else noticed this! When they first posted videos to their website I noticed these wheels in a few scenes actually. We can only hope that’s the plan! I myself would prefer a new Sport Truck version instead of the Raptor fighter but is it too much to ask for both?

  4. Honestly – they don’t look like beadlocks to me. I remember seeing a set like that for sale about a year ago- and I just spent some time trying to find a picture – and can’t. 🙁

  5. Looks encouraging Manoli. I can only hope. I’ve decided to wait it out for a ZR-2.

  6. i have a 2008 Silverado. It has 60000 miles on it and i have replaced the trans, ball joints, calipers, rotors, front wheel bearing, etc. I don’t tow much with it and never take it off road. chevy needs learn how to build a decent base model truck before it tries to manufacture a special edition pickup.
