While the 2014 Corvette Stingray refuses to give up the spotlight, the 2013 North American International Auto Show officially kicked off this morning with the announcement of the Cadillac ATS winning the 2013 North American Car of the Year.
No less than 49 tier-one automotive journalists selected the ATS as the clear winner, after sampling every new car released in the past year. This award is the latest and perhaps most prestigious award for the ATS yet, having already won the “Car of the Year” accolade from several other publications, including The Detroit Free Press, Esquire and the Motor Press Guild, which is a major automotive journalist group.

Next year the Cadillac ELR will win the award!
Excellent job, Cadillac!!!! Which engine are they all basing this on? Turbo?
Smart choice in my mind. I’ve seen this car in person and it has real presence. I am crazy for the CTS, but somehow I think I like this one better. Looks awesome in red.
Wow! I didn’t see that coming!
I don’t want to hear another idiot tell me the ATS isn’t a proper Cadillac or that the yanks can’t do a compact luxury car. The V will only lay waste to whatever fool who can’t afford to have their pride challenged or damaged.
No surprises there. It’s only a pity that this award will be side-lined by the launch of the ‘Vette. A worthy choice indeed.
She’s a beaut Clarke.
