It seems we can’t go a week without the Cadillac ATS winning another Car of the Year award. The latest is from The Detroit Free Press, with resident auto critic Mark Phelan giving praise for the Cadillac’s light weight and unbreakable focus on out-handling the BMW F30 3-Series.
After testing one for ourselves, we can also say it’s nothing less than a complete joy to drive, but a few things keep the 2013 model from being perfect. Still, there’s no discounting how good the ATS really is, as its pile of awards continue to mount. Will it win the prestigious North American Car of the Year? We’ll have to wait next week for the 2013 North American International Auto Show.

I think it would be easier to list the awards it hasn’t gotten.
Motor Trend Car of the Year would be on that list.
The motor trend car of the year is NOT the best car of the year. They look for a new vehicle that is a game changer for the industry or even for a marque.
2011 Volt: big game changer-Somewhat affordable electric car that solves range anxiety
2012 Passat: Forget why it got it
2013 Tesla: big game changer-Elegant electric car at high end
2014 CTS: big game changer-takes on the best sports sedan in the world forever and wins from a marque not known for excellent sports sedans.
The new American Passat is pretty good, but not sure it deserves an award… it doesn’t really do anything better than the last gen model, except than to fit bigger asses into the back seat. What a standard MT has!
Meanwhile, the ATS changes the compact luxury car dynamic entirely, not just for Cadillac, but also for the industry. And it doesn’t get MT’s award? I smell bull….
Another notch for Cadillac!!!!! Good show 🙂
BMW beware Caddy’s on a roll.
