You already saw the front end of the 2014 Corvette C7. Now, witness the rear end and a bit of the side profile — thanks to a leaked cover of the next issue of Automobile mag.
Why and how does this happen, you may ask. You see, automakers send the mags photos of the cars Ā they are going to unveil ahead of time, all for a chance to have their car appear on the cover. Yay for the revolutionary and totally 21st century method of publishing content!Ā Off the soapbox…
What we see are the lights, rear quarter panel, and lower fascia — all of which have a squared-off look. Just like in the front, LED lights are present and accounted for, as are the center-exiting quad exhaust pipes that have been synonymous with Corvette. And check out that C-pillar flowing into the sloping liftback! Yours truly thinks it’s sexy as all heck… but you may not agree.
Let’s duke it out in the comments!
PS:Ā watch the unveil of the C7Ā the evening of Sunday 13, 2013 right here on GM Authority.
Update: check out theĀ 2014 Corvette Stingray C7, full with specifications and photos, right here.

Looks good! Now someone leak the performance numbers.
Spoiler alert anyone… Have to say this looks blow away; would prefer to see at Detroit in the reveal but hey… Cant wait to see reveal still…. Bring it on…
And guess who will take pictures and video of every nook and cranny of the C7 to bring it to you guys? This guy (points to self) and that guy (points to Manny). š
take good shots Alex ha
Alex, wish I was there with you guys…
Like i said on the other article, im not much a fan of the rear. But I’ve always developed a greater appreciation for a cars curves and sculpted lines while waxing it. I’m sure once i see it in person it will start to sway me, but that hand wash and wax might be what it takes to win me over
The thing I want to see most is the new interior
I like the front, and I think the new rear roofline will look good in person (and I will be there!). But the rear fascia is where it all falls apart, for me. The Camaro-influenced taillights don’t belong on a Corvette. It does not represent a best effort by the designers. The up-side is that they have created a market for a custom rear fascia!
The shape of the taillights seems to fit the rest of the styling well, and the duct work around them seems to look better than I expected (at least in these pics). But there is far, far too much black plastic visible, and the reflectors really busy up and detract from the appearance ( the word “afterthought” comes to mind). Also, I can’t tell from this pic, but what’s up with the script below the Vette emblem? That looks tacky as well, IMHO. I’ll, wait for some better pics, now. š
For C8, yawn: lose the CHSML as a styling element. Also, it’s time for integrated exhaust tips.
Like the front ! And, you know, that rear is starting to grow on me…futuristic…I like the blacked out lower bumper better – although I still think, corporate look be damned, the Corvette needs to lead not follow ! OK for the Camaro to look like a ‘Vette but not the reverse… all in all, I think one will find it’s way into my garage ! Can’t wait to see the C7.R !
I agree with most on this one. Front looks good – rear quarter panels look much like
the previous version. ‘Vettes like Porsches should evolve, not completely re-emerge, I suppose. All the mid-engine concepts just whet my whistle for what Corvette could
be…
As one who can wield a design pen a bit myself, I’ll say the rear is too busy. I agree
with the tacked-on reflectors and needed integrated exhausts. The butt end is
too busy by far – too many angles trying to do too much. I believe a classic design
causes the eye to naturally follow a progression along it’s entire shape – think shark, for example. I’ll reserve a deeper opinion after it’s reveiled just how functional the
black taillight ducts are and do the other rear vents really vent anything? Subtract
a couple sharp angles on the rear and scrap the script under the logo
and I’m mildly impressed.
The longer I take it in, it’s far more American Boulevard than Italian class. This
isn’t all bad because this is what the ‘Vette has always been.
HEY! I think I just found the 2014 Corvette’s taillights —- errr, nooo…these are a
Lamborghini Urus Concept’s exhaust outlets —- Hmmmmmmmmmm….

Wow i agree it looks really great!! Lets hope the interior is as good to look at and live in. J
The tail lights look more Camaro than Corvette…
First , the front half of the new Vette looks AWESOME! If the front end could talk, it’s saying, “I hate you.” As for the back half of the car, there are problems. It looks as if they gave up on building the car, once they reached the back of the door. The corner windows really look funky on a Corvette, and you can’t tell me they add much visibility. They should have made a complete fastback looking line, without a window, kind of like the tunnel back C3s. The rear end is the major problem. It has some cool lines, but you don’t take parts from other cars and put them on a Corvette. The Camaro-style taillights have no business being on this car. They should have at least made them into half circles, to at least resemble the heritage of the car. I fear that a lot of people who see this car from behind won’t have the slightest clue as to what it is if they don’t see the scripting on it. As for the reflectors, I wouldn’t put too much thought into them. My guess is these pictures were taken in Europe. They were probably testing the car there, because they know it would have been caught here. Europe has more strict requirements for vehicle visibility. I’m sure those reflectors are for Euro spec cars only.
I think the rear was designed to resemble the 2009 Stingray Concept, IMO.

Now that we have seen the back, of course not exactly official until rolles out… I am sorry I dont see Camaro tail lights here. I see an evolution of corvette tail lights that to me are awsome… Camaro NO… Corvette YES…
I agree, if you were to just look at the C7 tail lights it’s easy to say it is Camaro-esq lights. But thats the same as the Ford Fusion and Aston Martin comparison, but put one side-by-side and you see how far off the Fusion actually is.
The Vette tail lights are angled and tapered, like menacing eyes. They look like there are all one unit but still two distinct lights. The LED strip transitions from one to the other.
The Camaro lights are more pod-like and rectangular. The top of the light is damn near horizontal and don’t possess any of the aggression that the C7’s do.

Front end looks awesome, rear end and upgraded interior I will wait to look at in person. Hope the rear end is impressive as this is the view that most other cars see of Corvettes……………………………….
Haven’t found any toy makers products for the Corvette yet…..
The rear end looks pretty cool Yes, there are square tail lights like on the Camaro, but there is so much else all around them dressing them up that I think it gives the rear end a different and much classier, dressier look than the Camaro has, so the overall result is that they are not that similar. Many cool features on the rear of the car, though how well it fits in with the design of the rest of the car will determine how good the car looks. I’m very optimistic, though. Should look, cool, modern, upscale and yet still Corvette.
Fellas, all I can say is that every time I see pics of the C-7 rear-end, it grows on me more and more. And yes, this car will surely cut the Porsche 911 over priced ass in every catergory, especially looks.
I’m starting to agree with some of the people who commented before me. You just need a little time for the rear end to grow on you then you’ll like it. Plus it doesn’t look as much as a Camaro to me it as it used to. It just looks like an evolution of the old round taillights we saw on the previous c6
lol Valiance. Yeah, the only thing that makes the 911 cost anywhere near what it does is the P-word on the outside.
Idk why everyone’s acting suprised over a year ago jalopnik gave us dead on renderings that seem to match these pics n the pic of the rear looks stupid and cartoonish Idk why they’d even put it on there
If that’s the way the C7 rear-end will look, I will stay with C1 – C6. Duntov would turn over in his grave
Or he’d be really content someone had the balls to stray from tradition.
I agree Alex, Mr Duntov never showed any loyality to anything other than Corvette performance – he didn’t like, and tried everything (to the point he risked his job) to avoid the ’63 having the split window because (surprise ! surprise !) you couldn’t see out of it as well. His Grand Sports (probably the most iconic Corvettes ever…did not have the split rear window and in ’64 neither did the production models.
I don’t like the “Camaro” tail lites but the rest of the rear view is OK with me and we’ve had Corvettes since the ’78 (and I’ve been a ‘Vette fanatic since I was a little boy in the C1 era), you can’t stop progress and the C7 is just that, I only wish that it had a 450 horse 5.5L and a dual clutch gearbox ! I can’t wait to have one in our garage, although giving up our beloved C6 will be hard, it’s been the “Best ‘Vette yet” and I have no doubt that the C7 will be even better !
CURSE you GM!! i was saving and planning on getting a Z06 c6 used….now, i’m going to have to scrap those plans and get a new or slightly used C7 Stingray!
this looks awesome although, mark my words, in a coupla years people will be complaining how the Corvette is sooo tame, and never breaks any molds…just like before.
2014 Corvette taillights SUCK. Stupid design. SOS: Someone, PLEASE! Come up with a REAL CORVETTE REAR END for the 2014 Corvette. PLEASE , seriously, someone out there…Thank you.
