2012 Chevy COPO Camaro No. 69 Fetches $400,000 At Barrett-Jackson

With all the hype surrounding Corvette Stingray C7 No. 0001 selling for an amazing $1.1 million, it’s easy to overlook another commemorative sale by Chevrolet. Of course, we’re talking about none other than COPO Camaro No. 69 — the only convertible COPO Camaro that will be available for sale.

Selling for a cool $400,000, we’re sure this race-ready beauty will be spending the rest of its years in a polished garage somewhere, rather than running free on the drag strip. Meanwhile, its twin, No. 68, will be kept by General Motors for display at the Heritage Center.

At the heart of this Inferno Orange monster lies a 5.3L V8 with a 4.0L supercharger, which was hand built by Jim Campbell, Vice President of Chevrolet Performance, at the Performance Build Center in Wixom, Michigan; it sends the power through the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission.

One hundred percent of the winning bid for #69 will be donated to the American Heart Association.

  1. It would seem the the GM “Authority” would have gotten, “….through a Powerglide three- speed automatic transmission” correct, unless one of the speeds they are including is reverse.

  2. And the green light just turned red.

  3. Why GM would not offer a VERT as a COPO Option for all is unfathomable.

Its just ANOTHER GOOF by GM by not putting a VIN Plate on new COPOs just as in the Originals.
