1958 Chevrolet Corvette Owned By GM CEO Dan Akerson Sells For $270,000 At Barrett-Jackson

This past summer, General Motors announced that chief executive officer Dan Akerson would auction off his own personal 1958 Chevrolet Corvette. That just happened last night, with the gavel slamming on the price of $270,000 at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction. That’s quite an escalation from the vehicle’s original MSRP of $3,591. 100 percent of the sale price went to benefit Habitat for Humanity Detroit.

Akerson’s particular 245-horsepower, 4.6L V8 Corvette is also quite rare. This is because that out of the 9,168 Corvettes sold in ’58, only 510 of them were sold in Regal Turquoise, which is lovely to gaze at both in person and in pictures.
