We recently stumbled across this video of a few guys with (obviously) too much time on their hands launching a fifth-generation Buick LeSabre Coupe (made between 1977 and 1985) into the air on a public road. The jump appears to go as planned, but the landing is a bit too fast, uncontrolled, and close to a row of trees for our taste… At least the driver was accompanied by an assistant (or two) who gave him the “all clear” to go for the jump. Needless to say, don’t try this at home (warning, NSFW language):
Following the video, this comment had us rolling on the floor and laughing like mad: “Looks like Grandma is late for Church!”

What is this, a Buick wanting to be the General Lee wannabee?
“Roach I” received more abuse than any car I have ever come across. After 100k miles of service to the local Police, he served another 270k miles (yes 370k in total) for a local cab company with 90% of his parts being original. Upon purchasing the vehicle he was painted bright orange (ex-wife’s idea) and over the course of a year was driven harder than imaginable. His life included:
1. Getting hit by a honda civic, totaling out the honda and himself though actual damage was “minor” it was his age and mileage that caused the insurance to total him. The honda, on the other hand, had to be towed away. Yes, my ex was a TERRIBLE driver as it was her fault. We did buy him back and made $500 from what we had into him. He hit several other cars along the way (rather the ex did, which is why we bought her the car), this was just the most famous.
2. Had is trunk jumped on often as it would not dent no matter how big the person.
3. Had multiple people walk from front to back over him.
4. Jumped multiple times like those in a movie, or the one you see above.
5. Used his bumper multiple times to push things out of the way, including 4 foot high gravel.
6. Ran him with 9 gallons of gas and 1 gallon of water.
7. Never tuned him up or put in oil.
8. Disconnected spark plugs to see how it would drive multiple times.
9. Was put in drive while driving over 60 mph many times.
10. Was put in reverse while driving over 60 mph many times.
11. Took curbs at 25-60 mph just for entertainment purposes. Never once did he get out of alignment or bend a rim.
12. Rallied him on dirt roads out in the country, bottoming him out many, many, many, many times.
13. AND MORE!!
In the end we sold him with 390k miles. He still ran like a champ and need no work except the climate controller replaced as it had gone bad.
doesn’t anybody have a job any more ? too much time on there hands.
In my youth I owned a 1979 Oldsmobile Starfire, once when driving down a 4 lane highway I torqued the steering wheel hard getting the car up on two wheels for a few seconds (my passanger crapped there pants). Never did that again. Again ramped the same car similar to the video off a highway at 70 mph… All because I wanted to go the other direction… Ah those were the days… Yikes…
