Hot Or Not? The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500

Those of you that remember the GMC Sierra All Terrain HD concept truck from a few years ago may see a lot of its features in the design of the all-new 2014 Sierra 1500, including a massive grille, cubed lights, a protruding bumper, and a swollen hood. Indeed, the new GMC half-ton is closer in size to the outgoing, high-riding Heavy Duty models than the current light duty version. We’re not complaining, but a few of you might think the new Sierra comes off as comical.
Therefore, we’re asking you — wonderful readers: is the 2014 GMC Sierra hot, or not? Last comment wins. Go!

The more i see it the more i love it either way it makes ford and dodge look like shit like usuall no surprise there
Note the way the latest Ford 150 and Ram are minimizing the front end , with more slope to the hood line and shortening the firewall to bumper length . This allows for a more streamlined appearance and more cabin space , along with Ford losing 700 lbs and with its superb turbo V6 , performance and fuel economy will probably be the new benchmark . Will the new GM product prevail ? I think not as GM listens to its faithful customers and gives them what they want , a conservative approach , one that will give them respectable sales ….three cheers for respectability !
I’m kinda start to wonder that since now F150 loses 700lbs with the TT V6 would it still win the tug of war?? And also the next truck is doing the aluminum can it still win?
I can only go from what I see , but here where trucks are the BIG SELLER , there appears to be more wannabees driving 1/2 tons than people who need them for their work and hauling work gear & loads . They are easy to spot , the wannabees drive clean polished higher priced models ones that look like there isn’t a scratch on them and the truck beds look pristine . Perhaps wannabees is not an accurate description anymore as these newest ones are getting excellent fuel economy , the driver / passengers sit high up , visibility is superb , and they are much safer in case of accidents , 4 wheel drives are very popular , particularly here and in the northern states who have winter driving conditions . Interior appointments are as good as the best cars and comfort and roominess in some makes/models is excellent . There is a reverse snobbery that is upon us , people don’t want to drive gaudy expensive cars anymore , not draw undue attention to themselves , but drive refined , buy the popular higher priced models . Paying 50 grand isn’t a problem ! In SUVs , look at the BMWs’ , the Acuras’ the Lexus , etc , etc , from side or back you can’t tell what make they are , the front grill and the NAME says it all . This is one of the fastest growth markets in North America . Even the Kia’s and Hyundai have at least 4 suv models each on the market . Trucks still remain supreme though and as the wannabees outnumber the workers in this category , appearance , car-like ride comfort , appointments , economy and driving performance will sway more buyers than towing capacity and off road / gravel road and off road capability . Sorry if I sound like an A H , just one man’s take on the marketplace .
Definitely not, looks way too futuristic, and the headlights look like something off a toyota. Getting less and less impressed with GM as the years go by.
At first glance I do not like it. Looks like Gm is going backwards. I have owned gm trucks since 93 and have traded every 3 years or so. I hope I change my mind when I see it in person. I am commenting on the exterior, not the interior. Interior so far looks fine.
I will say that I saw both trucks in person last weekend at the Twin Cities Auto Show. The GMC looks much better in person than in the photos, but I still don’t like the headlights. The grille is magnificent though.
The Chevy still looks better.
Ugliest grill headlight combo. Ever on 2014 gmc.waited a yr. To get 2014 gmc. I’ll drive 14 but it will not be a gmc. Gmc was a leader in front looks. this is terrible. looks like the grill fords been running for 5 yrs. Clearly designed by foreigners..Toyota. yuk..sucks.
The fist in the wind as GM STAFF DESCRIBED the front end at the unveiling may just be part of the team who designed the phoney louvers at the back of the hood?? Lord, phoney louvers on a work truck, wonderful . Massive front end guess that means Look at us , we ‘re the baddest. Here is the skinny , both Ford and Ram have been improving their trucks every year, not like GM…every 4 yrs or so . The 2014 GM truck is okay and competetive but it will take a few years or more to have people forget the past . Weight reduction, streamlining, twin turbo V6,smaller robust twin turbo diesel would be nice ! Keep up the good work.
From all the complaints I have seen on the lack of an adequate headlight, (The LED seems to simply SUCK) .. I will keep my 08 or look into a Chevy or Ford with traditional headlights. Oh,. AND OVER $500 TO REPLACE ONE HEADLIGHT?? You gotta be kidding me!
