GM Transitions Shreveport, LA Plant To RACER Trust

After ceasing operations in August, GM’s main lease on the Shreveport, LA assembly plant expired this past Friday, and handed the keys over to Racer Revitalizing Auto Companies Environmental Response (RACER) Trust. RACER Trust is a company specializing in redeveloping properties left behind from the “Old GM” era.

The near-3 million-square-foot facility, which used to build the GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado, will be maintained by a small RACER Trust management staff and will be patrolled by a private security team, so that the facility doesn’t end up like Detroit’s old Packard Plant. Meanwhile, the company will search for a new tenant, and GM will still lease a small portion of the land to hold some equipment until further notice.
