First Production Corvette C7 Rumored To Be Auctioned Off For Charity

The vehicle roster of the soon-to-happen Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona is up, and for the most part, we’re able to see what’s going to cross the auction block during the annual event.

Then there’s lot number 3016. There’s no description, other than the vehicle will cross the block at 8:30 PM on Saturday, January 19 and is listed as a Chevrolet best described as “piece of Chevy history.” As Autoblog points out, whatever price it fetches after the gavel slams, all proceeds from this “special Chevrolet model” will be donated to the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan.

We think it’s a bit too early for the mystery vehicle to be an LS7-powered Chevrolet Camaro Z28. So we’ll go ahead and assume that the most logical vehicle of choice would be the 2014 Corvette C7, which will be unveiled just days before on January 13, 2013.

  1. I read that the first production vehicle of any model was a candidate for GM’s Museum. The first production Volt was sent to the Museum, and the second was sold through an auction.

  2. Maybe it will be the second one. I haven’t been to the museum yet to check out what they actually have but I am hoping for a trip soon! =)
