Ad Break: Opel Insignia Project Is Opel’s Mission Impossible (Video)

Don’t pay attention, and you might think this Opel Insignia launch ad is a trailer for a Mission Impossible sequel. Starting out with who we’re going to call “the spy” being briefed on the mission to find out what the “Insignia Project” is all about, the ad features dramatic shots/angles as well as ominous music.

The spy then proceeds to infiltrate (what is supposed to be) Opel’s R&D headquarters (we’re guessing in Ruesselsheim) and disguises himself as an employee of the automaker. He then follows the development of the Insignia, pointing out the car’s various features, including its ability to read road signs (Opel Eye) and adjust its headlights up and down (Adaptive Forward Lighting).

Overall, the ad is fairly entertaining in what has become a sea of monotonous car ads:

We also like the launch ad for the Opel Astra, which takes on an Oceans 11 theme. Why can’t GM do something similar in the states?
