A report from Motoring.com.au tells us that Australia’s Holden will push the unveiling of the new VF Commodore (what North America will know as the Chevrolet SS) ahead of schedule to early February, just before the first public test of the V8 Supercar version on February 16 at Sydney Motor Park.
In doing so, its unveiling falls closer in line with the February 21, 2013 unveiling of the Chevrolet SS road car — which is to be during the Daytona 500. Between these days there’s sure to be a surge of photoshop renderings of the VF Commodore as a Chevy SS.

oh good grief just show us now… let it look like the rendering in red posted the other day, this rendering blows…
I am a Holden dealer in Australia – it looks nothing like this rendering. its much much better than that….
Jonty, PLEASE give me some hints or clues to what it looks like!!! Especially the interior!
Interior is totally different to VE, very camaro like
New commodore – 20 years ago WOW!! with protected market, 80 % Ozzie really important. Now in real worl with 20 % frankly Hiundis, Mazdas etc more interesting.
I really hope it werks, but I suspect too big, too thirsty too late ( and no diesel, of course …)
The New SS impala, When where what part of the world, Because we know not the US, will get a ecco 4 cyl engine, with a turbo putting out 227 hp wow 227, another disappointment , oh well time to buy a Dodge or a BMW .
Can’t wait to be able to buy the new SS in the US with it’s big powerful V8 . I sure hope they are right that the new SS handles like a 4 door Corvette .
ps – a moden turbo petro DI four would have helped ( mmmm ford ecoBoost ???? ), but after debarcle of early ‘eighties “Starfire” ( backfire really), with modern LOL OHV design and not eneough power to remove the skin from a custard pie, I s’pose Holden were, um, somewhat reluctant (understandably). have fuuuuuuun
Just seen VF sportwagon on the street – NO disguise.
“Face” is like the colarado, with squarer headlight, split grill ( like Pontiac, oops umm Chevy ) is slanted back quite a bit. Unable to stop and ‘ave a perve inside. For looks, 8/10 ..good job GMH
Any pics? Upload them at facebook.com/holdenisaustralian.
WHEN CAN I PLACE MY DEPOSIT FOR ONE ?
Looks like the perfect BMW competitor . Compact body , more vertical windows will maximize interior space , like the BMW , similarly , the front end overhang is brief , handling should be as good as well . This is how to design cars , understated , this will appeal to a broad spectrum of drivers and the Chevy grill on the other rendering on this site is excellent , not bulbous as the Malibu , follows the hood line , is brief , and looks killer . Hopefully the standard exhaust will be sweet , matching the great sound from the Ford Mustang…..methinks sales will be huge and the aftermarket add-ons will quickly bring on exterior mods to allow an enthusiast to personalize the beast !
