We might not be attending the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show this year, but we have friends that are. Thankfully, one of them walked through the Chevrolet display and snapped a photograph of the rakish Tru 140S concept car — a front wheel drive coupe that’s said to have underpinnings shared with the Chevrolet Cruze and Opel Astra GTC. The twist here is that instead of a matte white finish, the car now sits with a sharp golden hue.
And as much as we love the rear-wheel-drive Code 130R concept, we completely acknowledge GM’s need for a small and sporty FWD coupe such as this. GM should just build both of them. Tomorrow.
Much gratitude to Adam aka HighMileage for letting us use this photo!

Nice
Yes, I agree………….build both.
I want to see it in black granite. GM needs to stop dragging their feet and put it into production. This should be a coupe/sister to the next generation Chevy cruze in 2015 and don’t change a thing about it. The headlights remind me of the Lamborghini aventador.
Like the front end variation on a theme. Rear styling reminds me of the G6 coupe and I was never a big fan of that.
Built both!!!!
Cheese
Build both and have a rainbow of awesome colors, NO grey No Beige or off-white! I would love to see it in a metallic orange!
I like it! I have been wondering if this is perhaps what a future Cruze or Volt might look like. It could also end up as a stand alone model. Either way, it would be great.
I agree, build them both. GM needs to start moving ahead of the competition, and begin with a bang for once. The new Malibu is a bit of a disappointment especially when compared to the competition in the mpg department. comeon GM engineers, I know you can do better than that. You need to address the Malibu’s shortcomings. It actually looks good, so please bring everything else in line.
yes please…
I don’t think a Cruze coupe should come in yellow
Build it with at least 200hp and ill buy it the day it comes out.
Like I said ….. the more I see the 130 the more I like the 140. Under 3,000 lbs and 200-260hp and alot of people will buy.
I like the look, and have a few suggestions for anyone from GM. I think this is good, and I have a feeling that they’re fishing for new Camaro cues for the next-gen, which should be out in a couple years (current gen is a 2006 concept design, which is 6 years old now…). I think the current camaro suffers incredibly from poor visibility and a cramped interior. Even the trunk opening is a joke, unless you have a wood chipper. I’d say, raise the windshield and lower the hood – the profile doesn’t have to be a total wedge. Also, the side profile is too similar to the fourth-gen Mitsubishi Eclipse, which I find quite unappealing.
GM need to keep some new design cues (like the front headlights from this concept), but also take some cues from the germans and japanese in building cars with sleek profiles that also have larger windows and excellent visibility. Even the new BMW 4 series coupe has large rear windows (from spy shots: http://www.caranddriver.com/news/2014-bmw-4-series-coupe-spy-photos-news). Pumped to see what’s coming out next.
Very nice. Now THIS concept has a contiguous design – a rounded wedge shape that looks rakish and sporty while practical for slicing through the air.
GM – Just cut the HUUUUGE Chevy-identity grille ( who needs THAT much cooling?!! ) and think about revising it more along the new Impala design language rather than the Malibu/Sonic cues. It’s a soft-speed look, with a hard edgey, very large maw in front.
I agree with Manoli on this one – as GM could use a sports model to duke it out with BRZ and it’s Toyota twin. Make it RWD – absolutely a must. And it must be in that same price category to survive. Give it electric boost/ PHEV and it’ll be a winner!
PERFECT! Build the 140 for Buick or Cadillac and build the 130 for Chevrolet.
How is that a good idea?
So those of us who like the 140S have to pay 10grand more? No.
the Tru should be the RWD one! With a turbo V6! The Code looks to much like a BMW.
Why can’t GM get a 2 door Cruze coupe on the market? My fantastic little Pontiac G5 is now 5 years old, but GM hasn’t built anything I can replace it with. A Camaro would be nice, but too expensive for me & other GM compact 2 door coupe owners I know. Do I have to change brands after many years of driving 2 door GM coupes? One of my friends already has, but I’m hopeful a 2 door Cruze will be a reality by 2014!
Don’t get your hopes up, this car isn’t going to happen. Just like many Concepts it will come and go leaving us wishing it would happen. If for some reason it actually does become a reality it will not look anything this good. Example the Volt. The Volt concept was a sexy 2 door Camaro like sports car and the production model a 4 door sedan for my grand dad.
