Originally in Detroit in January, the Chevrolet Code 130R revealed itself wearing red with golden wheels. Red wouldn’t be our ideal color, but considering its tantalizing rear-wheel-drive underpinnings, light weight and supposed low price (should it be built), it didn’t matter.
Then came the 2012 Paris Motor Show in September, where the Code 130R was repainted in a sexy sky blue. There was much rejoicing, and the vehicle continued to accumulate interest months after its original unveiling.
Now, in Los Angeles, our friend Adam “HighMileage” Barrera captured the RWD Chevy concept car shining in a shadowy grey, and looks like it means business. As an additional and more subtle change, the concept’s nameplate now reads “Code 130 ‘RS” — one whole extra letter. Woo. And from the looks of it, the cabin is still hollow.
What’s your take on the continued attention by Chevrolet on both the Code 130 RS and Tru 140S? Also, don’t forget to follow HighMileage via Twitter and Instagram for more.

That is the gray I’d just love to see on ATS…..very sharp….appears nonmetallic also….great choice to showcase the shape of car
Looks sick. When do we get to spy more interior concepts???
Change up the grille a bit and build it please
They need to build it. It would also be a great replacement for the Pontiac solstice
Bring it… yes please, pretty please… Come on GM…
The new chewrolet is verrx beautifull is a super car
The front looks like Lightning McQueen.
I love the proportions of the car, remind me of a 1 series, but some of the features, sic as small head lamps and odd tail lamps, should be changed.
If they want sinister why did they go half way? Let’s see it in black.
Its a wonderfull chevroletthe 130s grey its a wonderfull new version for the Future
I wisch the proud owner of this car to be
the la 2012-chevrolet code 130 S Grey
this car is with a fine Lady
chevrolet code 130rwen you See him you get tingel in the belly and than you already imagine can driving this lady but you must can be this best master.
Chevy seems to be using the RS more these days. Camaro RS Sonic RS Cruz RS.
this car seems to fit into that strategy….and I hope has a very strong chance of joining chevys line up soon…..
I think the Sky and associated cars were killed off to soon. Be good to get a compact sporty car into the line up. Something for the Dad’s who have to buy a Traverse to accomodate the family….
looks like the next generation camaro
This is a very nicely styled car, however I hope the gen 6 Camaro does not look like this at all. It’s too small and just doesn’t look right for a Camaro, I’m not getting into the “retro” thing that subject was beaten to death over and over in a older post. but it needs some styling hints to make it a Camaro The headlights and tail lights Look Awesome but I’m not digging the Malibu grill. the New Impala’s front however is one word. Delicious! hope some of that makes it into the Gen 6 Camaro. But enough of me going on ….Chevy just build it!!!!!!
You have wonderful cars and trucks i am a fan from Silverado but for the moment i have not see a Silverado.
I dunno……..the more I see the 130, the more I like the 140
I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the next gen Camaro.
I feel like if this were wider and had a bit more aggressive stance, it would be the next gen camaro. But please fix some of the angles – windows are very BMW 1 series. That B pillar exterior needs to be smoother out and sleek. Turbo I4 or DI V6 and I would buy right now.
That’s a very interesting opinion about the 130R.
No matter the color – from a design standpoint: Still a mish-mash of contradicting languages and shapes…the greenhouse doesn’t match the body. Such unrealistic overhang in front has zero chance of making it safety-wise, plus makes the car look just plain goofey. One positive note: The back end has grown on me – tailights of nice eye-catching design.
Overall – why all the effort of this to attract gen Y’ers when they are buying fewer cars and driving less than generations prior? Studies show this and that the younger people reaching car-buying age are now more interested in the environment and cars that are efficient as well as aerodynamic, and with it’s huge wheel/tires and bludgeony design, this car appears neither. A complete loss IMO.
The car isn’t the best looking in the world, sure. But the concept of an affordable and small rwd coupe is great. It seems to be working quite well for Toyota/Scion/Subaru… and is also why many 80’s and 90’s JDM cars continue to be hot items to this day among enthusiasts.
And I don’t know if Gen Y are avoiding new cars from environmental concerns as much as it is about them not being able to afford them, new technology competing for their dollars, and the increasing accessibility to mass transit with the majority of them migrating to the cities. Regardless, Gen Y is the largest consumer force this world has yet to see, it’s just a shame so many of us are stuck with mediocre pay checks as the world becomes more expensive around us.
I will own one of these, I will! nothing will stop me. also keep the tail lights those a so cool
Build it!! Build it!!!! Build it!!!!
I wonder if GM is going to out this up against the Scion fr-s and the Subaru.. The base engine can be a 1.4L and have a 1.6L as option and have a code 130r ss like the old cobalt and have the new top of the line. 2.0L.. That sounds nice to me..
The Code 130r should be produced…one point I want to drive home is we are focused on smaller regarding next gen camaro, and then we are focused on the alpha in regards to the ATS. The alpha will also under pin the next CTS so it is a diverse platform meaning the Camaro could still be larger than the Code 130r.
