Word has it that a certain transmission assembly plant in Strasbourg, France owned by General Motors may change hands soon, as the company is in talks to jointly sell the facility to ZF Friedrichshafen AG and Punch International NV.
While it’s yet to be a done deal, ZF and Punch are in “advanced negotiations regarding the production of 8-speed automatic transmissions for ZF in Strasbourg,” said a Punch spokesperson according to The Detroit News. We’re happy to see that GM is willing to sell the plant, rather than simply shut it down, like so many before it.
