GM Korea Plans To Shed Office Workers By “Voluntary Retirement”

With the South Korean automotive market on the decline, GM Korea has begun offering a “voluntary retirement” plan to its white collar workforce from last Tuesday through December 14. Office workers interested will have to fill out applications to both retire and receive the benefits.

GM Korea will be compensating workers of up to two years’ salary, two years’ school tuition support and a car voucher worth 10 million Korean won ($9,200), according to Reuters. Lastly, the 10,000 or so plant workers will not be affected.
