Exclusive: A Look At The D3 Cadillac ATS

We’ve seen a few photos here and there of the sinister-looking Cadillac ATS touched by the madmen at the D3 Group, but other than that, information on the slammed sports sedan remained scarce. Until now.

The D3 ATS Body Kit is both a feat of design and detail, giving the ATS a fierce appearance while still maintaining its essence of a modern Cadillac. The kit itself includes the D3 Front Bumper, D3 Side Skirts with optional D3 Air Foils, D3 Rear Roof Spoiler and the D3 Rear Deck Lid Spoiler. All of the mentioned parts clip on to the OEM mounting points, are sold together as a full kit or individually, and can be painted to suit the customer’s taste. But not everything about this stanced ATS is about aesthetics.

To get the ATS to near-ground level, D3 installed an adjustable coilover suspension system that can be lowered and the spring rate adjusted to the preferences of the driver. This way, the coilover system can be adjusted to better accomodate certain driving situations, either on the track or the street, so long as the tools to make the adjustments are around.

Replacing the standard air intake is a genuine bolt-on D3 Air Intake System, that — again — uses the same mounting points and hardware as the OEM intake. This modification is 100 percent bolt-on and requires standard hand tools to install.

The D3 Group is also currently engineering future performance parts purpose-built for the ATS. It will test them under extreme track conditions to ensure reliability. Look for the parts to hit the market in early 2013.

  7. I cannot recall the source of this take on Cadillac when it was first introduced in Europe…the young upwardly mobile set were not that interested in following the family tradition ie. Mercedes, Audi, BMW etc….some of them started to get into Cadillac, just to make the point that they were going to be a little independent…when I look at what GM has done with the old ” land yacht ” it makes perfect sense to me…gutsy, brash and totally unapologetic…and that is before you even look at what Caddy is doing on the track…too…too cool. I would love to know who first pitched this vision for Cadillac…the gap between the old Cadillac and this generation is definitely NOT EVOLUTIONARY…if anyone knows please post it…adb
