With all the news surrounding the recent marriage between Disney and Star Wars (yay for 3 more episodes!),GM looks to grab our attention once again by announcing a re-imagined Test Track — one of the coolest rides at Disney World’s Epcot theme park. After 18 months in the making, the project is set to re-open December 6.
Officially dubbed “Test Track Presented by Chevrolet,” it offers Disney guests a three-part experience. First guests will be able to design their own vehicle, be it a car, truck or crossover. However, the twist is that users must balance capability, power, and responsiveness along with efficiency. The design will then be “test driven” in the form of the main thrill ride, through simulations to make sure the vehicle is up to snuff (something tells us they all will be). Following that, each guest’s vehicle design will be evaluated and scored based on how well their design balanced the core attributes.
Finally, guests have the opportunity to race their vehicle over changing terrain and extreme conditions on a digital driving table, produce and share a TV commercial starring their custom vehicle and pose for action shots in front of their design.
Sounds like we need to go to Florida pretty soon.

Nice. And if the C9 Corvette looks like the red car on the right….whoo, sweet!
And if the 2013 Silverado has a retro, aero nose like the truck in front of it –
great! Are those hints of designs to come or just some artist’s rendition?
( Perhaps GM should hire that artist and put him on the design team! )
Le Mans Circuit cutout at the top left corner haha.
@James – I think it was the artists just goofying around with those designs, nothing serious there.
Marketing 101, sponser a themed attraction at a the worlds greatest resort destination and theme park…
yeah i wonder if thats the new silverado…..
anyways, sounds awesome, but i dont quite understand how youll drive a car youve only drawn, a little confused there…..
I’ve been to Epcot…..sounds perfect for this
My question: What happened to old Test Track? It sounds like the actual “ride” is gone. Don’t get me wrong, I like what I just read. I think it’ll be great, but for anyone who hasn’t been to Disney before, Test Track used to be a ride where you go through different “torture tests” before rocketing you around a final lap.
I liked the old “test track”, but I will try the new one someday.
BTW,why the “yay for 3 more episodes!” with star wars?. Only nine movies? Star Trek did eleven movies (with seven TV series and one animated), and the next movie is in 2013. That is the best science fiction series, such that NASA named the first flying shuttle Enterprise after the fan mail, and that shutlle is now in NYC. One real space shuttle astronaut was a crew member of ST:TNG and many of the younger astronauts saw Star Trek which inspired them to be real astronauts.
star wars is just frustrated fantasy kid’s stuff that made George Lucas filty rich from all the silly fans that went along and paid him. I didn’t!
