Chevrolet Sail EV Renamed Springo Before Guangzhou Auto Show Debut

You may or may not have noticed, but the Chevrolet Sail EV concept car is radically different from the petrol-powered vehicle that shares the same name. So much so that it’s reportedly getting its own name, just before the 2012 Guangzhou Auto Show, which is this month (along with the LA Auto Show).

The name Shanghai GM came up with is “Springo”, and if it is anything like the concept car — it will have an 87 hp electric motor capable of going as far as 93 miles on a single charge, and a top speed of 80 mph. For those wondering if America will receive the upcoming vehicle, the answer is currently a no, as it will be exclusive to the Chinese market. But hey, we still get the Spark EV.
