You already know the Chevy Volt, and you may know of its European cousin — the Opel Ampera. Of course, the biggest difference between the two otherwise-identical extended-range EVs is the very noticeable styling difference in the front and rear.
So which one would you rather own? Vote in the poll below and tell us the reason for your vote in the comments!

The Opel is a bit more “sporty” looking in the front end.
However I am not sure the US Volt buyer is looking for “sporty”.
I mean is there a sporty Prius?
How dare you compare the Volt twins’ styling to a prius! I don’t even capitalize prius!
alloys not good
You are right, the Opel wheels are not that attractive.
I think the wheels on the Ampera are the flangeless kind. You have to see them in person, but I love them, personally.
Originally I liked the Ampera look, thought it looked more sporty. But the Volt front end looks more sleek, stylish, and now I think it is the more sporty looking one.
What makes the Ampera more sporty? Those weird boomerang shaped black inserts? Makes it look likes it’s wearing eye liner and crying.
I do however like the rear deffuser on the Ampera.
The Opel has a way more aggressive front end- looks like Virgil Exner styled it, I see a little ’61 Plymouth Fury in that, which is nice. The grille on the Volt looks like it’s a sticker, no depth or texture. Volt front looks so generic, that could be a Camry/Subaru/Kia.
Follow this link to see what I feel is the best rear end Volt treatment to date: It’s the Z-Spec Volt GM showed at 2010 S.E.M.A. in Las Vegas.

It’s essentially the Ampera taillights trim and rear fascia with Chevy logo. Notice the normally grey rocker panels are painted body color as well as the front fascia/spoiler.
The 2013 Volt loses it’s black roof ( definately a cheaper paint process which was needed to cut costs and price ) and black hatch panel at the rear. I think this makes
the Volt look a tiny bit more plain…But I’ll take the slightly longer range of the 2013
over aesthetics any day.
Here’s a 2013 S.E.M.A. by Giovanna. Volt with big wheels, painted rockers and a similar nose treatment to the Z-Spec. Notice the chrome strip is also removed from the black paint treatment under the side glass.

Begin the flaming, but the Opel’s front end where the headlights are looks too much like something Hyundai would do, and I can’t stand Hyundai. I’ll take the Volt.
I think the wheels on the Ampera are the flangeless kind. You have to see them in person, but I love them, personally.
Actually, yes, not bad at all and yes, they have also created specifically for the machine would be more economical and electrical stuff:)
Some 17 -19 Sport Alloys would be even better eye 🙂
I like the innovative front of Opel Ampera.
BTW Sporty does not have to be a rumbling gas engine. I own a Volt and I can say it is a sporty car.
The Ampera can appeal to a younger crowd!
Electric is the way to go and the Volt/Ampera, as of now, applies the best concept with a decent execution.
