Thirteen year-old Jacob Krause bought a “Quacker’s Dozen” of rubber ducks a day before the United Way Rubber Duck Dash. Since the Nebraskan teen’s ducks proved to be the fastest out of some 20,000 others, Jacob won a brand new Chevy Camaro convertible, as well as the envy of thirteen year-olds around the world (and ours, too).
Luckily, Jacob’s timing couldn’t be more on point, as this was the first year that all 20,000 ducks were sold out. For obvious reasons, Jacob’s parents claimed the prize — which he could drive as early as next year (under parental supervision), since Nebraska allows 14 year-olds to apply for driving permits. Jacob may also let his brother and parents drive the Camaro, but plans on keeping it in his parents’ garage for the time being.
The GM Authority Take
We emailed Jacob to see if he would trade the Camaro for a set of really nice collection of ducks that’s been sitting aging nicely in the GM Authority garage. As of press time, we haven’t heard back.
Jacob’s first year as a teenager must feel pretty cool… and assuming he doesn’t trade his Camaro for our meticulously-kept and hand-selected collection of rubber duckies (some have even called it the Cadillac of rubber ducsk), Jacob will have an excellent ride to high school in a few years.
