The Corvette C7 development team recently retreated into the Rocky Mountains to conduct some high-altitude testing, hopefully away from curious spy photographers. Fortunately for us, the C7 test fleet was definitely spotted and filmed, enough to the point of Inside Line managing to publish a video.
Throughout the footage, we’re able to gather a few key elements, the first being that this Corvette is dwarfed by the size of the Chevrolet Camaro, which is indeed a large vehicle in itself. The second is that the engine noise (1:10 in the video) isn’t much different from that of the C6 Corvette, continuing to have a small-block pushrod V8 under the hood with a familiar exhaust note we’ve come to love. Just don’t call it an LS motor.

That exhaust sounds beautiful. I love the current Corvette’s exhaust, but I have to admit it can sound sloppy at times. This is a huge step up.
I just love these “spy” shots. Those numerous camera angles look pretty staged to me. I’m not complaining at all, mind you. I’m just saying that with all the noise that Lack-erson was making about employees leaking information, it seems like they’re giving the Good Lieutenant the single finger salute with these shots.
I’ve heard this in person and it sounds great. I can’t tell from this video, but the C7 I heard sounds noticeably different from the C6 (LS3). No more LS motor.
As I understand it, the Gen V starts the LT series; the new LT block sharing nothing in common with the old LT block.
I suppose we could call them LT series 1 and series 2.
I stopped breathing there for a minute. Ugh. I want one soooo bad. But honestly, what would I do with two? The sound is definitely different from most C6 cars and it sounds great. January, huh? I wonder when they are going to start taking preorders….
