Painted in Berlin Blue Tricoat, the Chevy Malibu Turbo Performance Concept features GM’s excellent HiPer Strut front suspension, six-piston front brake calipers with two-piece cross-driller rotors, as well as a cold-air intake system that helps the car’s boosted four-banger breathe cooler and denser air. While the 2013 Malibu Turbo makes 259 horses, 260 lb.-ft. of torque, and is able to sprint to 60 MPH in a brisk 6.3 seconds, GM says that the intake “can help it make more power”. Meanwhile, the interior is adorned with in Jet Black/Navy Blue hues and has a flat-bottom wheel:

Chevy says that this is only “a vision of where the Malibu Turbo production model could go”, since its “designers and engineers will be listening to the reaction it elicits” in Sin City.
What we’d like to know is whether those unique “Turbo” badges give the Turbo Bu’s boosted four-banger any extra oomph… conservatively, we’re hoping that each “Turbo” badge adds an extra 10 ponies. All kidding aside, though, we were really hoping that the fine ladies and gentlemen at The General would liven up this specific category by squeezing out more than the stock 259 HP from the boosted (LTG) Ecotec in the production model. But that ground effects package really gives the ‘Bu a wildly-aggressive face.

the looks of this+awd would be sweet against the Fusion titanium or if there is gonna be a Fusion ST
I wonder why nobody wants to fix up a performance version of the new Impala and the Traverse on SEMA??
There is an impala concept but it’s an ugly red.
@MW this?

This looks sweet
Ok, yet again teasing us with this SEMA stuff when honestly everyone of these cars should be more representative of what we are seeing in these renderings. With the option to modify some aspects of the vehicle, but good lord ever freakin component… Come on… Or at least come out with actual Z-spec vehicles
looks nice, but lets be real, is since when did “malibu” have anything to do with performance? and as I’ve said before, i’ll believe it when i see it.
also: [Chevy says that this is only “a vision of where the Malibu Turbo production model could go”, since its “designers and engineers will be listening to the reaction it elicits” in Sin City.]
translation: we’re just building up interest in the turbo model; which actually won’t look anything like this no matter what the audience at SEMA says. oh and did we imply that this will be sporty? yeah, well, not actually – we have no plans of offering a manual, or advertising it as a performance car, or even entering it in any type of competitive sport that will prove it’s worthy of any “performance interest” of any kind…your friends at GM.
in other words, business as usual at GM.
Don’t call it a Malibu turbo…… yawn…..get a new moniker and just build it. Don’t price it out of this world, price it to sell…..Chevy and GM need to make a statement with the Malibu if they expect to sell against the competition that’s out there……this could be it.
Can some one please fill me in on how to get ahold of this body paint color code and the custom grill. Specifically the custom grills for the lower section and fog light insterts. Pleeeaaase… all help would be greatly appreciated.
