News from across the Atlantic tells us that the Opel/Vauxhall Adam may very well receive its own convertible variant sometime in the not-too-distant future.
According to Auto Express, a design has already been completed by the Adam’s British designer, Mark Adams, and his team before he was promoted to Cadillac and Buick’s head of design. Yes, Adams helped design a car named Adam.
An original rendering from AE shows how an Adam drop-top would work and look. Like the Fiat 500 and Citroen DS3 convertibles, a power canvas roof would peel backwards while the door frames and roof-line remain stationary. We dig it. Do you? There’s also the thought of a five-door Adam.

Bring it here!
GM is not going to get the “timeless-classic” cachet from the Adam that cars like the VW Beetle, Fiat 500 and MINI Cooper all exude, if for no other reason than the fact that this is the first-generation Adam and there has not been an older iteration if it.
That said, this car is a very attractive fashion statement. With a bit of tweaking, it would in fact work as a Buick. If marketed properly, I can see the Adam less of a product and more of a lifestyle–which is ALWAYS a good thing for a manufacturer.
GM should bring the Adam to the US. It could be the Chevrolet Louis; or, the Buick David. A really upscale trim line for the David could be the Dunbar.
I don’t know if Chevrolet customers would appreciate a niche vehicle quite like this. It is somewhat upscale and will probably command an average price past $20K (especially if it is assembled in Germany). Plus the curves and creases would look more at home in the tri-shield division’s ranks than those of the bowtie brand. And though Buick has dropped the average age of its customers since bankruptcy, and has even gotten a few people MY age (under twenty) to pay up, it still needs to attract more younger buyers. I say this product has Buick written all over it.
Yes i want Gm to bring it to the States, i’ll be there first customer…
This car in any guise is a thousand times better looking than Chevy’s boring, outdated Sonic and Spark models.
I really like the crisp and timely look of this car; but I can’t help but say it reminds me of ‘bubble’ like cars e.g. some boxters (well, maybe more frog-like), beetles etc. It does have much more of a designer look though
Yes. Bring it asap.
