In less than 90 days from now, Chevrolet plans to show the world it’s all-new, next-generation 2014 Corvette. As the days count down and excitement builds, Chevy will periodically release official videos of the C7’s development process — just like when Cadillac was preparing its reveal of the ATS.
The videos will become available on the C7’s promotional website, chevrolet.com/one13thirteen.html. Of course, we will also share with you the videos as they’re released here on GM Authority.
The first, called “Conception” will be available by November 15, just under a month from today. The second will be “Calibration”, and will be revealed on November 29. “Craft” will be unlocked on December 13, while the final video, “Creation” will be shown off on January 10, 2013 — just days before the official unveiling of the Corvette C7 on Sunday, January 13, 2013. It’s okay to feel excited. It’s perfectly natural.

That new logo looks amazing on top of white.
I’ve driven variants of every gen except the C1. Performance wise, the Z06 with Z07/Carbon package was a high, and the lowest model volume Vette I`ve driven… I think. I have never driven a car that felt so fast, and on paper was so fast (Cayman R is the next fastest I`ve driven). But more so, I’ve never driven a car that stopped so f***ing fast, absolutely insane the horizontal G’s, feels like the air is going to be pulled from your lungs if you don’t close your jaw-dropped mouth.
C2`s have always been my favourite, and I`m lucky enough that my uncle has two, and when he found out I loved Vettes when I was 12 or 13 he started storing his 67 427 coupe at his summer house, which as luck would have it right beside my parents cottage. In the past 5 years I’ve put more KMs on it than he has in the last 15. I never smile when driving as much as I do when I’m cruising coastal cottage roads or tearing down the single local highway with rock-face escarpment on either side.
I love Covettes. lol
I cannot wait to drive this new generation. I’m hesitant on the design, the Jalopnik renders don’t have me entirely won over. But I think that all might change when I’m at Detroit in January.
That’s the beauty of it. Every generation of Corvette makes it’s fans upset.
Then they warm up to it.
Then they love it.
Then they groan and moan when the next generation comes out.
Excellent comment, and so true! I look forward to this new Corvette. I wish they stopped making it out of plastic though, it will always be a squeak and rattle machine mating dissimilar materials together, Fiberglass mounting holes seem to elongate over time. Making the Vette out of metal would really freak out enthusiasts!
I hear you on the fibreglass. Steel panels, as robust and as cheap to make, would be too heavy and would ruin the Corvette’s handling.
Aluminum would be better, but cost more; and carbon fibre, what I would kill for on a Corvette, would be even more expensive.
But carbon fibre on a C7 or 8…..mmmmm….it would make a Lotus look fat.
I don;t like the Jalopnik render either. I really do hope that the C7 looks a lot better than that image with the cheap outdated Camaro look, for the rear. Please GM don,t disappoint all your fans with that pathetic rear end design.
It’s obvious Michael W NEVER owned a corvette! I’ve had several and now own a 2005 C6 with Z51 package and NO squeaks or rattles.
My ’99 had a ton of noise throughout the cockpit for a couple years. Sometimes I thought is was going to fall apart on me! Then I put it in the hands of a very capable mechanic and we found out WHY it was making all that noise. Roughly 50% of the nuts and bolts holding the dash in place were missing! What?! Well, they were all replaced and I feel like it is all new again! Cars do come up with noises over time. You just have to be diligent in finding them and getting them fixed.
On the carbon fiber idea, I know they later C6s had some parts of carbon fiber but I don’t think any of the main body parts were. I have had a carbon fiber hood on my car for the last 5 years and it has been great. Not sure if something like a door panel could take a hit and keep it’s shape.
