Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Touring Convertible, V8 Performance Concepts Leak Before SEMA 2012 Debut

If you thought Chevrolet would only be showing off Spark, Sonic and Malibu concepts at this year’s SEMA show, you are sadly, sadly mistaken. Of course the real meat and potatoes of the show will be an impressive lineup of Camaro concepts for the Bow-Tie brand to show off as well. Two of which are named the Camaro ZL1 Touring Convertible concept, and the other being the Camaro Performance V8 concept.

While photos have yet to be released officially, Chevrolet has dished out the details before their unveiling. Here are quick write-ups on both models:

The unique Camaro ZL1 Touring Convertible concept is a reptilian drop-top super car, with a custom green exterior color and 580 horsepower under the hood. With it also comes 10-spoke Chevrolet Accessories wheels treated with a liquid metal finish and milled faces. The windshield header frame, taillamp bezels and exterior badges are also treated with liquid metal finish. In contrast, the color of the splitter, rockers, and upper fascia are all matte black. The interior features ebony leather seats with Mojave perforated inserts and armrests, with matching Mojave stitching. The shift knob and center console lid are also wrapped in leather accented by ZL1 logo floor mats and sill plates, while Ice Blue interior lighting illuminates the cabin in the dark.

If you’re not a fan of how the Camaro 1LE looks, Chevrolet suggests that you could simply turn your Camaro SS into one with the V8 performance concept. Showing what’s possible with new ZL1 driveline and 1LE suspension kits from Chevrolet Performance, the V8 Performance Concept features a Camaro ZL1 rear differential kit, 5.1-ratio short-throw shifter, shock tower brace with a white Camaro graphic, Camaro 1LE suspension kit and a Camaro ZL1 brake conversion kit. It also features a dual-mode exhaust system, ZL1 rockers and diffuser, a front splitter borrowed from the Camaro Dusk, a blackout graphic for the upper front fascia, plus red metallic hood and decklid graphics. There’s also a black Chevrolet Accessories rear spoiler, graphics for the “gills”, a heritage grille and polished 20-inch wheels.

Inside, the enhancements continue with black suede seat inserts on black leather accented by torch red stitching and a red suede stripe. There’s also a Camaro ZL1 flat-bottom steering wheel with carbon fiber material and a suede ZL1 shift knob. There’s also the mandatory Chevrolet Performance embroidered console lid and sill plates, plus the RS gauge pod.

We will post more on these vehicles as the official photos release.
