Ad Break: Under The Blue Arch – Field Test

We’re sure that when Kyle (the Chevy sales associate) handed Robyn (the customer) keys to the Chevy Sonic, he didn’t expect her to drive the Sonic like a car is meant to be driven:

All this makes us wonder whether Kyle has ever had the pleasure of really driving a car… you know, pushing a vehicle to its limits — preferably on a closed course (such as a track). If he hasn’t, we’d be more than happy to accompany the good lad on his first track day. As an aside, why is it always Kyle that seems to take things to literally, or take things a step too far?

But never mind that… we’re still perfectly content knowing that the Sonic is not only stylish, safe, and fun to drive, but that it also gets 40 MPG on the highway. Now, how about that rumored high-performance Sonic that’s supposed to cradle the all-new 1.6 liter direct-injected and boosted Ecotec? That kind of whip would make a perfect track car for Kyle, wouldn’t you say?

  1. That 1.6T needs to go in the Encore. Immediately. Otherwise, its fuel economy/performance isn’t going to cut it for this “Buick” compared to competitors who are offering the same performance but in a larger CUV. The 1.6T engine would be wonderful for a Sonic SS no doubt, but is that where it should go before finding its way in the Encore or Cruze?
