Last time the upcoming Cadillac ELR was spied, it attempted to mask itself as a Chevrolet Volt. It almost worked. And just this morning, a motorist on the Southeast Michigan freeways spotted a peculiar and fantastically sexy looking test mule doing its to be inconspicuous. Again, it almost worked.
Wonderfully, it appears the overall shape and sculpture of the 2014 Cadillac ELR extended range electric vehicle doesn’t appear to stray too far from the Converj concept it’s based on. Additionally, the promise of the high-efficiency compact vehicle being a coupe seems to be on its way to being delivered.
Expect the ELR to be revealed during next year’s Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance, with its launch beginning sometime next fall. For more Cadillac ELR news as it happens, be sure to check back to GM Authority daily.

I can’t tell if the concept’s shapely rocker panels are there. I think it’s going to look extremely bland if they’re not.
Anyhow, this is exciting. If it’s done right this could more than suffice as a halo of sorts; at least for the time being.
If it starts at below 50 grand I see it becoming a hit
I doubt it. The Chevrolet Volt is $40,000, and Cadillacs are usually around double the price of a Chevrolet the same size. I’d say it will be at least $65,000, considering a Tahoe is $40K while an Escalade is $65K.
Cadillac should put the 2.0T from the ATS in the ELR with the battery and let drivers choose when they want to use the eco electric engine or the sporty gas engine. They are sorta doing that with the 2013 volt with the new hold mode.
I first thought no this is a Chevy sport coupe seeing the images, but will accept ELR…
Even in camo this thing is DEAD SEXY!!!
It has to be below at the most for me, $56 grand, because the tesla model S starts somewhere around there if I remember correctly
Wow. I’m not a fan of hybrids by any stretch of the imagination, but I like this.
Good, because this isn’t a hybrid, at least not in the sense that I assume your thinking in, as in prius hybrid.
You are misinformed about this vehicle. It is electric with a onboard charger, not a hybrid. The proof is to remove the spark plugs and see if it can run without them. If it can’t (because it needs the engine) it is a gas vehicle with an electrical motor assist and a hybrid. The Volt and the ELR will run without the plugs because they are truly electrics.
I hope there’s a two liter turbo up front and another 149 HP electric motor in the rear.
