Spied: An Even Better Look At The 2014 Cadillac ELR

We knew the production-bound Cadillac ELR would resemble the Converj concept closely. What we didn’t realize though was how closely it would resemble the concept. Even the wheels are the same, though the mirrors had to take a more practical approach, as we analyze the latest spy photos. But the most intriguing elements of the vehicle are currently what’s unknown: its plug-in powerplant, and the interior layout.
Still, the vehicle is roughly a year away from launching. But we wager the Bavarians in Munich are also watching as they are cautiously preparing the first-ever BMW i8, which is a vehicle that will compete for the same real estate in the market as the ELR.
How much????
$60k is probably a safe bet for a starting price
I can kind of see the XTS in the headlamps. Looks good.
I love the shape of this car!
condiering how things went with the Volt, is there really any hope for this car?
What exactly do you mean by that? Volt sales continue to grow. Customer satisfaction is unmatched to Volt owners. So with that in mind, yes. Yes, there’s plenty of hope for the ELR. And consumers will be much more willing to $50K+ for a Cadillac than $40K+ for a Chevrolet.
i mean how the Volt is currently selling like crap because, lets face it, it’s a car that nobody except eco-freaks want.
the Volt is a nice car, and in my opion superior to it’s hybrid AND electric competition, but it’s no money maker. i’d be willing to bet that this car won’t be either.
“lets face it, it’s a car that nobody except eco-freaks want.”
ORLY?
Nevermind the idea that people buy the Volt for its outstanding range and EV capibilties, but you seem to think that GM built the car solely for ‘eco-freaks’.
What, exactly, is an ‘eco-freak’? Because if it’s anything like what I’m thinking of, an ‘eco-freak’ wouldn’t buy a car in the first place because they walk/bike everywhere.
Grawdaddy, stop arguing for the sake of arguing. we all know the Volt is selling nowhere near what GM projected even with GOV incentives.
Considering all the money and hype GM put behind the car it is panning out to sell far less than originally anticipated. in case anyone forgot, GM projected 60,000 annual sales originally, then lowered it to 30-35,000 for 2012 (currently it’ll be lucky to hit 15,000 for 2012, they’ve only sold 13k+ so far)
as it stands the car is a toy for early adopters, and a whipping boy by the press for everything wrong with the GM/GOV bale-out fiasco. in the real world it’s makes far more economic sense to just buy a regular compact with 40+mpg rating and save the extra bucks – assuming great fuel efficiency is truly all that one cares about.
side note: stop over reading into what i say. i never presumed or stated that Gm built the car solely for “ecofreaks”. the reality is well-to-do ‘early adopters’ with hyper sensitive environmental leanings are attracted to the car. when ‘Joe Average’ thinks about getting a hybrid or a really fuel efficient car, they buy a cheaper Prius or any of the other far cheaper, nearly as fuel efficient, hybrid or economy offerings on the market.
Arguing for the sake of it?
When you use the weak statements ‘lets face it’, you’re trying to pitch your opinion as absolute fact. No sentence that ever starts with ‘lets face it’ has ever had a grain of truth in it. Considering you see the Volt as something for the upper crust and no as something that the lower American classes would want just feeds the belife for you.
A lot of people that purchased the Volt have the money to buy a Cadillac. Already a lot of talk from Volt owners about upgrading the the Cadillac when it becomes available. So yeah, I’d say there is hope.
As much as I like the Volt, I hope I can see the front of this car when I sit inside so I don’t have to worry about scratching the front bumper because this was also the problem on the Volt.
I tend to park about two feet away from everything in front of my car for the same reason. Even if I press my head to the ceiling, I still can’t see the hood.
exactly!! I test drove a volt before and like this dealership has their car park so close to the car behind it and i can’t literraly move and another was that i cannot see the front at all because the hood was a little steep where you can’t see the front at all
I see that the grille is covered like the Vol’ts so it does has the Voltec system.
