First Production Cadillac ATS Sells For Underwhelming $50,000 At Barrett-Jackson

During the weekend’s Barrett-Jackson auction in Las Vegas, the first production Cadillac ATS crossed the block, with all proceeds going to Team Joesph for Duchenne muscular dystrophy research. A noble cause, and it’s a shame the car didn’t go for much more than what one would cost on the dealer lot, as the gavel slammed at just $50,000. A steal considering it’s the first production model ever.

Maybe Caddy should have auctioned the Ciel concept. That would have most likely fetched a finer price.

  1. The ATS has absolutely no history behind it and it was not particularly eagerly anticipated by the motoring public. Therefore I’m not surprised at this result. Indeed the Ciel would have fetched a higher price on the grounds that it is a one-off.

  2. I am bummed that is all it sold for, just drove home my new ATS two days ago, I would have paid 50k in a New York minute. I got a chance to drive my NEW ATS more yesterday. If you get a chance drive this car !!! This car rides more like my M3 than a Cadillac CTS ever did. I am so impressed . Its a loaded premium edition. Black w Cranberry interior. Its european feee is luxury until you flip it to the sport mode, and your off the some FUN paddle shifting excitement. Engine revs up like my M3 did when I downshift. I am speaking out to BWM, AUDI and Mercedes drivers. If you get a chance go drive one of this cars do, yesterday as I downshifted coming into a corner…. engine revved up to meet perfect shirt point and made the turn. My first thought was my god… this thing feels like the 2 M3’s one manual and 1 (DCT) Drivelogic . I am smiling for ear tot ear!!!! I cant wait to spend the weekend with this car…. interior and stereo blow away BMW. Its rocks !!!!! The Cadillac….over exceeded my HIGH expectations !!!!!

  3. The ATS is a nice car, but in the public’s eyes, it’s just another GM vehicle. Put that with the fact that people don’t want to pay money for things today, and there you go.

  4. Not to take away from a fine and much anticipated automobile. Hell I’m wanting one.
but why auction off such a car? If the person with the winning bid was smart he would of called his Cadillac dealer and said hey call me when you get your first shipments of the ATS. then pay sticker price. This is not an unique enough car to warrant such a debut.
An ATS/V perhaps. The first production new Z/28 or Corvette definitely.

  5. meh, yet another example of a classic GM marketing blunder. yes the ATS is an AWESOME car (or so they say) but lets be real. it’s just a knee-jerk response to the BMW 3 series. when seen in that light, it makes no sense to auction it off like it’s the next C7 ZL1, or the first production 5th gen Camaro. in the public’s eyes, and in the grand scheme of things it’s JUST a compact Caddy. the fact that it’s RWD and happens to not embarrass itself in the twisties is a perk.

to be honest nobody outside of a few handling nuts like ourselves even care about this car. speaking of which; GM needs to revamp the ATS’s ads as well. the performance angle is cool, but the guys who care about such stuff (like us) already know all of that. it’s just preaching to the choir. they need to hype the styling, fuel efficiency, and ‘un-compromised luxury at a entry price’ virtue of the ATS.

  6. Let’s not forget though, that’s $50K going to charity.
