This past June, a third party supplier let it slip that GMC was planning an all-new Canyon for the 2015 model year. Today, it was made official. But many of you who routinely follow GM Authority should have already foreseen this. In addition, GMC confirmed it will be built in the Wentzville, Mo. assembly plant alongside the all-new Chevy Colorado.
“While we continue to make strong progress in fuel economy gains on our full-size trucks, we know that there is a group of customers who want the functionality of a truck but may not need full-size pickup,” said Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick and GMC Marketing in a press release issued today. “We believe that introducing a new, agile and efficient mid-size Canyon will meet the needs of many pickup buyers.”
So, there you go. We have a new Canyon to officially look forward to. How different will it be from the new American-spec Chevrolet Colorado? Hopefully enough on the outside, inside and under the hood to really give GMC something to honestly call its own.

Thumbs up! We’re home alone on the Ranger…….
Ranger is now dead, Tacoma is old and stagnant, Colorado is the same at every job site & streetlight. GMC has more presence everywhere ! We love ours….
What happened? Sounds like they finally listened to their client’s requests. A small pick-up for weekend chores that gets good mileage and fits in every driveway. What a concept.
