This 15-Year-Old Girl Traded A PS2 For An ’86 Camaro IROC-Z

Two years ago, Rachel Dempsey of Madison, Ohio listed her PlayStation II gaming console on the “barter” section of Craigslist for $40. Today, she is the proud owner of a 1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z. Trading up is the name of the game, and Rachel is a seasoned pro at it.

Upon finding out that her parents weren’t going to buy her an IROC, Rachel decided to fix it up herself. By trading up and fixing the items she bartered for, including a broken four-wheeler, a Yamaha bike, and a camper, among other things, she was able to get the Camaro — and is currently fixing it up some more; plus, the IROC has all the desirable fixin’s, too, including leather and T-tops.

Ironically, Rachel is only 15 years old and still can’t drive without her mom or dad. She turns 16 in September; her ultimate dream is to trade up for a late-model Mustang. Now how awesome and enterprising is that!
