Production-Bound Cadillac ELR To Debut During Pebble Beach 2013

So, we didn’t get a new Cadillac this year at Pebble Beach. But we did get a teaser photo of what’s to come, and even juicier news to keep all eyes and ears on the brand. Cadillac marketing VP Don Butler told the media that the production version of the Cadillac ELR plug-in EREV will make its official debut this time in 2013 during next year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

For those that lack sufficient long-term memory, the ELR will be a luxurious relative to the Chevrolet Volt, but will utilize a newer, more powerful electric drivetrain coupled with a gasoline-powered engine to keep a charge going after the battery runs out of energy.

  1. A 2 liter turbo, should be able to make good use of the Voltec transmission which allows the gas engine to help move the car. I just hope it has balance shafts. Engine vibration would be a terrible thing to add to an electric drive car.
