Hennessey Tunes The Chevy Camaro ZL1 To 700 Horsepower, Matt Farah Drives It (Video)

It’s not hard for a GM small-block V8 engine to push out the power comparable to a Lamborghini Aventador. Many tuner companies across the country do it, but one of the more renown shops in America is Hennessey Performance Engineering. Tuning everything from Corvettes to Escalades, HPE recently let Drive’s Matt Farah rocket off in an HPE700 Camaro ZL1.

For roughly $20,000 over sticker, HPE will feed the ZL1 Camaro enough steroids for it to produce exactly 707 bhp @ 6,300 rpm. But they forgot the roller coaster harnesses! No matter, as such things are easily forgotten with such a deafening roar firing out of the exhaust pipes. And having driven the 580 horsepower Camaro ZL1 from the factory, we can only imagine what kind of monster it becomes with 707 horses from the LSA V8. That’s good enough to hit 185 mph from a standing mile.

At the end though it seemed the team got board and put more focus on the HPE700 CTS-V wagon. Which isn’t inherently a bad thing at all. We’d prefer it, actually.

  1. Matt Farah is a stud, I’d drive him harder than any car.
