Does This Gen. VI 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Rendering Work?

Considering the popularity of the looks of today’s Gen. V Chevrolet Camaro, it’s made things difficult for the design team of the next generation model: where to go next?
While this writer is in the camp of slightly evolving the looks of the fifth-gen Camaro into a smaller, more nimble package, not all can agree. But we happened to come across a design rendering of what the Camaro of the future will look like.
What you’re seeing is the work from a 22-year-old automotive from Lawrence Tech design graduate Tyler Bame. So, while it’s not an official design rendering, it still deserves our attention.
How do the looks of this 2015 Chevrolet Camaro strike you? Sound off in the comments below!
The air dam will have to go. And it will need to have tires. The wheels look like they just sprayed a thin coating of rubber on them.
True 140 looks better that should be the next Camaro. Based on the Alpha architecture. With the LTG for the base engine TwinTurbo LFX for the Z28 gen V direct injected V8 for the SS supercharged for ZL1.
For a very basic loose “rendering” it is cool, and gets an interesting design direction out there. The more modern direction is nice, would like to see some hints of 2nd gen…
I endorse that. I would prefer that the team produce a design that is reminiscent of the Gen II Camaro.
And you think the blind spots on the current Camaros are bad!
That’s some really high belt line there
I’m with the crowd of an evolutionary change of the current model. I like design exercises, but this one just doesn’t sit right, even as a different nameplate.
i knew i had to be nervous about something…. hopefully this doesnt go through… its to exotic… and alott of us arent ready for the future look , bring that up later on…. dont ruin the camaro now
Ew, it melted!
Tyler, Go back to the drawing board. Go look at some ’68 or ’70 1/2 models.
This is too concepty to see what a possible production model would look like but I like the Aston-martin esque side windows
Exactly, we cant say whether it does or does not work unless the rendering is at least partially something that could go into production.
Nothing in this rendering could go into production. So its hard to judge.
I think the biggest problem for the next gen camaro designers is to decide whether to go modern for 6th gen or keep the retro for 6th and go modern for 7th. Ford, has all but confirmed that the next gen mustang will go modern.
I just hope that GM does not make the mistake of trying to please everyone by making gen 6 camaro retro AND modern, because it wont work, theyll end up pleasing no one. So they should just pick one direction and go with it.
I’m not a fan of the Camaro, but this just doesn’t work.
I agree, make a more progressive design change. Make it look more futuristic like this one, but htis design is too low, too wide, and too long to be a Camaro. But I think that most non official renderings look like that. By the time this car reached production, it would definitely look more “normal”. And fix those high beltlines.
so i take it you were under a rock all through the 70s-1998.
except for the 67-69 all the Camaro has ever been is low wide and swoopy looking. this fits it’s natural evolutionary patern far better than the current 5th gen even.
Your off to a Good Start!!
the next camaro is locked in design and this is not it. the new camaro will have some of the wide body looks it currently has be on a smaller chassis ALPHA and have some cues of the 70.5 car. the new look is called internally muscle pure and simple. it will have perfect driving dynamics much lower weight and again lead the industry for pony cars. I think final design looks great and again the designers were given total freedom to express the new look. total performance was the main objective, speed, cornering, handeling, power and fuel economy, there will be much more seperation from the bottom to top end on differances which will reach a broader market and fill gaps that the customers have reflected to us. I consider the style modern muscle with classic cues. more to come.
JD has the engine choices being locked in yet?
No, they haven’t — since some of the powerplants haven’t completed development.
i HOPE you aren’t blowing smoke, because we’re well into the 21 century! there is no reason to be looking back with all of the awesome tech and ability GM has at it’s disposal. it’s time to make a NEW classic!
I like the general idea thought. But I agree with previous writer in that it needs tires, all I see is wheel and no rubber (maybe it’s suppose to have tires because car is a hover type craft). Also as with a previous writer visibility from interior out I think would be terrible. My concern is with headroom, drawing could be deceiving but looks like a six foot type adult would have a rough time
While it is a bit extreme, it surely looks better than that Ford Mustang/EVOS concept!
I like the look, but it should have a little more of the Generation 5 In it, so not to disappoint the people that love the generation 5 Camaro.
Nope…………thats not up my alley.
i LIKE it. and i hope that what ever GM does they keep the naval gazing (read nostalgic retro rehashing) to a minimum. as i said replying to JD, this thing will be hitting the streets in 2015! i ain’t trying to get hype over another re-imagining of a mid 20th century car! we are in the future, and the Camaro should be too.
there should be “heritage inspired” hints, but NO aping! the current Camaro is a near perfect blending of old and new and is arguably not even retro. but it clearly was inspired by it’s great, great, great-grandfather. sure, i understand why, and genetically we know it happens. lets just call the 5th gen that perfect alignment of the starts “ringer”. that kid who for all intents and purposes channels a long dead relative in a way that’s both fantastic and creepy.
cool GM been there, done that, LITERALLY…on to something new.
now i know full well that this isn’t the next Camaro. but if GM is being real with itself, they know that if the Camaro is to stay around for generations to come, it’s gotta become it’s own car and tune into the essence of modern affordable V8/American performance in such a way that future generations will be saying “i wish they made a Camaro like the 2016 SS! that was a bad ass car, they don’t make em like that anymore”
The shape is a lot like the EVOS (which is the basis for the next Mustang). I would like to see a progression of the Gen V Camaro. Something a little like this car. But not exactly. There’s a few things I don’t like about it. Also what do you guys think about four cylinders? The next Mustang is said to be getting a four cylinder, so what about a Camaro?
Personally I would not like to see a four cylinder Camaro. I would just save that for a Code 130R.
