Computer-Generated Video Of 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Goes Viral

We’re still roughly a year out from the launch of the next generation Corvette, but that hasn’t softened the hype. Not in the least. Take for example the latest independent video, which gives us computer generated images of what the C7 could look like in motion.

The video was done up by Trinity Animation, using C7 renderings drawn up by Jalopnik, which seem to be dead accurate judging by spy photos of the upcoming car. Still not too sure about how the rear fascia looks, though.

You can read up on everything we currently know regarding the 2014 Corvette C7 right here.

  1. That was really well done. As for the car: I don’t think I’m going to like the missing basket handle–something that’s been a part of Corvette DNA for ages–nor the trendy exterior lighting, but I expect I’ll at least like the more chiseled front end.

  2. While this may not be entirely accurate, it eludes to the fact that the next gen Vette is going to be blow away… This video provides room for the imagination to ponder even more in the way of form… Truly exciting…

  3. I hated the Jalopnik renderings, but this is more like it. I love the stance, and it looks a lot more like a fancy European sports car. I can’t wait to see what it’s capable of.

If these features are going away, I am surely going to miss the circular tail lamps and the basket-handle on the front.

There are many things to get excited about, but to me the biggest are who it’s made by (New GM, which puts a lot more thought into the cars they build) and the fact that it’s not just a tradition anymore. I don’t know, I just felt like the C4 to C6 generations were built because of the legend. When they built the C6 Z06 and ZR1, they realized that they had something going for them. Now, they have world class targets: Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lexus (LFA), Nissan (GT-R), and SRT (Viper), and I am sure they had this on their mind when engineering this car.. Go get ’em, Corvette! Crack that 9:12 mark!

    1. I’m sorry, I misunderstood what “basket-handle” was at first. Although I’ll miss it, I really meant the smooth curves that go over the fenders.

  4. I like it, looks like a European supercar from the distance, but an “American Corvette” up close.

  5. I enjoyed the video, but I’m not a fan of what I’m seeing here. The tail lamps are taken from the present Camaro which is not what we need to be seeing. The Corvette is supposed to be setting trends…not following them. I say stick with the current oval ones. The nose is another story. The profile looks like it belongs on a Plymouth Superbird. The car also has a frightening overall 70s/80s Japanese sports car look that is a dead singer for the “Toybaru” Twins…particularly the Toyota. If it looks like this in reality this will mark the first time since I bought a black-and-gold pull-back-action C4 Corvette back in the 80s (yes the bonnet opened, as did the doors) that I disapproved of a Corvette and didn’t dream of owning the latest one…

    1. you do know that the Camaro’s rear lights are actually aping the Corvette and not the other way around right? in fact i remember how everyone was screaming and crying about why the new Camaro had moved to 4 rear tail lights (because that’s a Corvette thing) instead of the traditional long square ones it’s had since the mid 70s.

i guess you just can’t win sometimes.

  6. Front end design is pretty nice, but it all falls apart in the back. And the Camaro taillights are a disgrace. That’s a deal-breaker for me… If the back half of the car really looks like that, I’ll be more than happy to keep my C6 Z06. The Corvette design team better get started on the C8 immediately, or they will become known as the bunch that klilled the Corvette. Let’s hope this C7 is a very short-term re-skin of the existing platform, and something entirely new from the ground up (as in the great leap from C4 to C5 was) will follow very closely!

  7. Looks a lot like a slightly modified 240Z. I remember the C4 without the high rise rolled front fenders which in my opinion was a major design mistake. This C7 is not on my radar for purchase as I see it in this rendering. Hopefully the rendering is missing the design elements that would change my mind as a repeat Corvette buyer.
So far not very impressive for the Corvette design team. There are no smooth flowing design elements that blend together. This design seems chopped up in several different design directions if in fact it is even close to the real thing.

  8. Send them back to the drawing board, camaro tail lights on the back of the corvette you’ve got to be kidding. Looks like I’ll just hang on to my 09 C6

  10. GM has an opportunity here to really do something awesome…… I’m convinced they will miss the mark and fall short like they always do!

  11. I think it’s hideous. The C3 Corvettes I could stare at, and have stared at, for hours. These renderings just make me wince.

    1. @Joe That said, I love the renderings 🙂

  12. I have not seen this until today. Although the shape has “evolved” over the last couple of months, I must say it looks pretty hot to me! I like the colors they put on it. Really made it come alive and seem real. Now I am really wishing it would get here now!
