Cadillac “Glamour” Concept Renderings Emerge

Cadillac just wanted everyone to know that they are up to something after releasing a teaser photo of a peculiar-shaped outline of a concept vehicle, as there’s hardly anything else to take away from it.

Cadillac design director Clay Dean’s vague lines of “reflect back not for nostalgia, but what made us great at the time,” and the car being something of  “American glamour meets American technology,” don’t really help much either. So for the time being, we’re left to use our imaginations. And it didn’t take much time at all for independent renderings to surface online.

The general notion of the upcoming concept being some sort of extra large coupe is the theme of these renderings, as we see some homage to the land yachts of the 60s and 70s in the rear fascia, while the front appears to have evolved from the Ciel.  How close is it to being accurate? A better question to ask is: do you want it to be?

While I appreciate the work that must have gone into them, I would MUCH rather see Cadillac dust off some old concepts than produce something like these images.

Ick! I don’t like this at all. It seems as if most of Cadillac’s concepts have only been dreams. I’d like to see Cadillac release a concept that shows a modern take on an old model. We saw a Zeta based Buick Riviera 4 years ago, what about a Zeta based Eldorado?

Is this A&S, or is Cadillac now a Cocker-Spaniel that has thrown up chunks of ’70’s personal luxury’ on the living room rug?

Send it back. A&S is not ment for retro.

So long as Cadillac isn’t trying to do another angular Corvette clone (XLR), I see nothing wrong with it. However, I think the company should be focusing its efforts on creating a genuine flagship sedan to compete with the likes of the 7-Series, A8, LS, S-Class and XJ.

I want to see something that can compete with the Benz SL coupe as well as the sedan.

I’m probably alone, but I actually like this thing. Especially the rear. If the proportions are correct it would be a nice 6-Series basher.

You are not alone. So far, it looks great. I would want to see the car first of course, because of GMs habit of doing 90% perfect and 10% effing retarded.

Speaking of retarded, have you seen the new Camry? Awful looking

Enough of these Gothic looking things and just build the Sixteen already.

This looks like some kind of land yacht coupe in the vein of the behemoths from the 70s, which I’m honestly not sure they need right now. Yeah, Benz has the CL-class, but it’s smaller than this looks. Right now, I think they should be concentrating on a range topping sedan before they go for something that will sell in even smaller volumes than the aforementioned sedan.

Looks like an older Riviera or even-older Eldorardo….could be very nice if it isn’t too big…nostagia….I would love to see an updated ’77 Seville

Love that it is a coupe! Very pretty lines but looks too big?

Rearend reminds me of a 1967 Eldo for some reason. I like it.

The roofline and top of the trunk doesn’t match at all. Looks like a 2door Altima and a Volvo up there. The rest is pretty nice though.

Cadillac needs to build a new-age Eldorado. Heck, maybe share the platform with a Monte Carlo and some Buick Riviera. Don’t say ANYTHING about crappy four cylinder engines.

I see this as a “shot” across the bow of the Europeans and Japanese. This Glamour concept, looks as if they are thinking of bringing to the market a Coup with a touch old and a touch new. We’ve see what they can do with the “Ciel” ,”sixteen” and Evoq. Its time for Cadillac to stop with the lap dancing and show some serious skin.

Superb article, but I just got a malware notice from coming to this
page. Is that normal or could that just be a mistake?

I’m not real technical and I’ve had at most 3 computer viruses since I have had this Computer, so notices like that because me to feel nervous.
Just wanted to inform you. Again, exceptional article, make sure you create some more!
