2013 Chevrolet Camaro’s Frameless Mirror Is Both Retro And Modern

Let’s face it, those OnStar buttons on the mirrors of GM vehicles have lead to some over-sized framework, enough to humiliate a hipster’s pair of spectacles. However, the plastic bordering around the mirrors can hardly be considered a fashion statement. So for the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro, a new frameless mirror will begin to be implemented in the 2LT, 2SS and ZL1 coupe and convertible models as a standard feature.
Reminiscent of the mirror designs of yore, with the modern touch-sensitive OnStar buttons now embedded in the glass. It’s old meets new, once again. Here’s to hoping the design makes its way into all Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles.

YES! Take that you Hipster bums! My specs frames are thin and that’s the way I like ’em!
Classy
You can compare this new design right with the old one by looking at the post right before this one. 🙂
looks really good, if they ran a flat ribbon of wires, instead of the plastic encased ones, on the wind shield it would give it an even more clean and floating look.
I’m assuming the 1LE will also get this and was just forgot on the model list for standard features?
I’ve always thought Cadillac should get something similar but with a chiselled ‘art and science’ look.
Perfect! It’s about time! Now I get to go out and pick one up for my 2010. Thanks for listening, GM!
This should be standard on all Cadillacs. This would really fit in with the Art and Science look too. Looks beautiful, inside the Camaro.
Manoli, I wonder if parts department can change the old plastic ones out for this one? Hopefully, later this year all new cars will come with these….
Decision makers within GM constantly read our stuff. And all of this positive feedback from you guys is sure to push them into that kind of direction.
Now, if Cadillac would bring back the basic white paint and give us the locking gas cap and rear camera on eveything…..
Well if that’s the case that GM’s online people are reading, then I would hope they get this:
GET AN A&S VERSION OF THIS MIRROR INTO EVERY CADILLAC TOMMOROW!!
GM makes me think of how slow Honda is to give anything nice in their cars…..have to spend $$$$$ to get the things we all want!
Manoli….any word on ATS or Verano coupes????? That would be sweet….the cars are small enough that they really don’t need those rear doors…..
Im pretty sure the ATS coupe was basically given a green light and would be introduced 2 years into the ATS life cycle. The CTS won’t receive a coupe or wagon when it moves upsize and upscale with the third generation.
Verano Coupe might be a bit of a stretch, but I think a Cruze coupe is in the pipe line (who can keep up with the rumours and on again off again confirmation from GM) so a Verano coupe would be easy.
I think what might be more likely is a Regal coupe. and Buick did just recently trademark the Riviera name again.
If you google search 2007 Riviera concept it is quite stunning.
I hope the coupes are out before two years……………..I truly think they would sell a lot…especially if CTS coupe is gone…hope we find out soon
Well the current CTS coupe will still basically be around for that time. Can’t have over lap on two niche model cars
Andrew…..well, I still hope coupe is here sooner than later…like the sedan but think two doors will be nicer.
Agreed. I’ll be in the market for a car when I graduate in 2014, right now my sights are set on an off lease low-mileage CTS coupe, but a new ATS coupe might just sway me.
I hope all GM cars have this very soon….sharp 🙂
Just an FYI, the new mirror will be standard across the entire Camaro range – my brother picked up a 2013 about a month ago (the first one in Georgia) and this mirror was standard. And, yes, it looks sweet in person!
Well, maybe it is a sign all we have it soon????
