Predator Hidden Headlight Grille For Chevy Camaro Looks… Predatory

There’s no denying that the Chevy Camaro is one hot tamale pony car. Well, some would tell you otherwise… but we tend to shake our heads in disagreement while wearing a presumptuous smirk (and burning out in their face). But that’s irrelevant. The point is that there is a plethora of aftermarket firms offering various distinct parts for the hottest sports car on the market, one of which is DJ Grilles with, you guessed it, a Camaro grille offering.

Officially labelled the Predator Hidden Headlight Grille, the front end treatment is available for the base, SS, and ZL1 versions of the Camaro and features an integrated direct air channel, removable headlight doors, 304-grade stainless steel accent trim, and the option to color match it to the particular hue of your Camaro. If Predator (the movie character) was the inspiration for DJ Grilles, then we’d say they have essentially succeeded. Unfortunately, pricing information hasn’t yet been announced.

What do you think about this setup? Is it something you would consider adding to your own Camaro? Sound off in the comments.

  1. Why is there never a link to the source on GMA?

    1. What source, Andrew?

      1. Sorry I should have elaborated. A Google search for DJ Grilles is easy enough, but I’m sure any company would appreciate a direct link when their product is featured.

After going on their site and seeing live images and not just the computer generated one shown above, the grills looks kind of awful. The smaller mesh weave on the headlight “doors” looks low rent and more Pepboys calibre.

        1. Ah, yes. Thanks for the heads up — we’ve added a link to DJ Grilles to the article.

Ironically, their page for the Predator grille seems to be broken; could you point me in the right direction of looking at the real-world photos you’re referring to?

            1. I don’t think those are one and the same. Those link to their Phantom grille whereas this one is the Predator. Or am I missing it?

              1. Haha, nope, you’re exactly right. Wow! *foot in mouth*

I maintain judgement on the Phantom grille, hopefully their PREDATOR grilles are more refined. Something tells me that it is still going to look very aftermarket, which yea it is an extreme difference when compared to stock, but the fit and finish should look like it rolled off the assembly line like that. Not sure how to exactly get my point across since for me it’s “when I see it I know” type feeling. I’ve seen my fair share of crap eBay grilles, and these look very eBay-ish but made with premium materials and ask a premium price (I think it is safe to say the price will be premium).

                1. Yupp, I totally know the feeling. I think a good rule to navigate the world of aftermarket grilles is to get a piece that is made of a “real” material, such as a high-grade metal/aluminum. Like you, I won’t know the Predator’s level of quality until looking at it in person.

  5. Hey GM ! Sorry but the front of that Camaro reminds me of a 1978 Cylon from the original Battlestar Galactia.

  6. I like the headlights. But I think the grill outline itself would neater to have a elongated Chevy bow-tie emblem, basically just change the center section of the grill work

  7. Looks terrific. A huge improvement over the cheap, cheesy-looking GM stock grille.

  8. Michael, have you even driven or seen the ZL1 in person? Because there is nothing cheap or cheesy-looking about it. This grille looks good in computerized renderings, but give me a break about the ZL1s stock appearance.

  9. There is nothing cheesy about this PREDATOR grille and considering DJ GRILLES is the manufacturer ( made in the USA) who makes for other well know company’s “Giovanna, Forgiato” etc there reputation is Rock solid!

Not everywhere well like it, but that’s the point about making ones ride unique !!!

When mounted on the ZL1 vs a rendering , your opinion may change

  11. I wasn’t referring to the ZL-1 per se, but to the standard Camaro grille. The entire point was to state how superior in appearance the Predator grille appears to me.

  12. We use the most expensive materials money can buy. EG has nothing on any of our grilles. They sell for 160.00 retail. I will take the pepsi challenge with an EG grille any day. We spend more to finish our grilles then they have in there entire box. Check back on our site Monday morning for the Predator Ram Air intake that is now available that was built for this DAC equipped grille with 20hp gains with no engine tune on V8 SS.
