Next Generation 2015 GMC Canyon Confirmed In Supplier Press Release

The auto industry is an incredibly complex organism, one with a multitude of layered hands, eyes and ears exchanging information in order to make it work day in and day out. And because it’s so big, it should come as no surprise to anybody that the occasional release of intel that some automakers could diplomatically call “premature” happens from time to time. This week, however, we’re graced with at least two in the General Motors realm, first with the supplier video featuring the C7 Corvette’s nose, and now a press release from another supplier stating that they will be responsible for the bed lining of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, along with the GMC Canyon.

The supplier is Rugged Liner, out of Owosso, Mich. and they also supply parts to the likes of Ford, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen. Was it predictable that there would actually be a next generation GMC Canyon? Absolutely. We just didn’t know that we would have to wait until the 2015 model year to see it.

  1. With GM cutting back production of full-size pickups, the GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado are the two best weapons in their arsenal. They’d better make a Denali version of the Canyon too.

  2. I’d love to see that All Terrain concept Sierra turn into a mid sized GMC. They won’t be suited to tow, so why not make them suited for the off road?

  3. 2015 model year could mean early 2014. I saw an article in a Wentzville MO newspaper mentioning something along those lines as well, when the plant upgrades are finished. So the new Full size pick-ups should be out less than a year from now, and the mid-size about a year later. That will complete a transformation of GM post BK.

  4. I just hope the new small Turbo-Diesel’s come along with the new Trailblazer, which would fit in perfectly as the Equinox moves a little smaller!

  5. Guess I better continue to take care of my ’02 S10! 2-3 more years! Very frustrating waiting for the General to bring new products to the US.

  6. I would love to see a Denali version of the Canyon, I would purchase one right out the gate. (current owner of 2011 GMC Sierra Ext Cab SLT and 2011 GMC Acadia SLT)

  7. I wish that GM would come out with a Colorado size pick-up in FWD with AWD as an option… Use the 3800 motor that served the Buicks so well… (own an ’06 Colorado Crew Cab and an 06′ Trailblazer EXT – both with over 200K!)
