The Chevrolet Camaro brings a lot of welcomed features for the 2013 model year. The most notable of which is the implementation of GPS and Chevy MyLink. There’s also a dual model quad exhaust system, akin to that found on the mighty ZL1, that is now offered on the 426 horsepower LS3-powered SS models.
A member of Camaro5 just so happened to take delivery of one such model, complete with a Hurst short-throw shifter, and Chevy MyLink. The implementation of the dual-mode system results in a much more bass-heavy bellow, closely resembling the idling sound of a ZL1, despite being short around 150 horsepower.

i dunno what it is (maybe too much time at the track or street races) but i have yet to hear a non-headered, or non-cammed LS V8 that sounds good out the box.
they lack the melodic rumble of the V8 mustangs, and the throaty deepness of a LT1 or older GM v8.
maybe it’s the all aluminum construction allowing more mechanical noise to escape, or a lack of specific exhaust tuning from the factory? Ford spent years perfecting the 80s flowmaster 5.0 sound for the 4.6 and newer V8s, even the current Coyote 5.0.
maybe GM should do something similar. or they could just put Choppy cams in all LS powered cars and call it a day. that’s one area LS motors rule in when it comes to sound. a 6-7000rpm rev in a cammed LS engine is darn near sex for your ears.
I’m in the market for a 2013 Camero SS and was thrilled when I saw they offered the performance exhaust option on this years model. The only thing better is if Chevy made the grounds effect option compatible with the performance exhaust. Right now, performance exhaust take priority.
