Look Closely, These 2014 Cadillac CTS Mules Are Different

If you’re able to make it out, you will notice that the grille and mirrors of the 2014 Cadillac CTS test mule in the front of the photo are not exactly identical to the one in the back. Now we’re not going to jump around and irrationally conclude that one is the all-but-official V model, but it’s healthy to point out this interesting observation.

The front model features mirrors that are taller and more present than the sleek mirrors of the CTS following it up the road. Also of note, the rear lamps of the two models are patterned differently, which can be seen in a photo found on Autoblog. The grille on the front model also features more cladding than the rear, but that’s probably there just for the hell of it.

Perhaps the front CTS is the European-spec model, while the one in tow is the one bound for North America? Considering the changes are indeed so slight, it’s very plausible, as the Euro-spec Chevy Camaro features the same sort of changes compared to the American one.

  1. Well it’s surely not the V. The stance would bee different, rather than the mirrors. It is probably Euro-spec, but what about coupe and sedan? I’m not looking at the best view to tell, but I only see one handle on the background CTS.

    1. if you follow the autoblog link they are both sedans. it has been confirmed a number of times that a coupe and wagon will not follow the CTS upscale, maybe at the mid-cycle, but definitely not launch

  2. Who cares? For that kind of money, I’d rather have a Voltec with second electric drive in the rear, and the 2.0 liter turbo keeping everthing powered up.

  3. I wouldn’t put much meaning on the lights being different. On photos of other GM test mules without the striping the lights often look a little cobbled together, might be just two different versions of the home-made lights.
