Cadillac XTS Has Stopping Power: Ad Break

The Cadillac XTS already has impressive safety features and a respected drivetrain. But the story of this large luxury sedan doesn’t end there, as the XTS also offers high-performance Brembo brakes (albeit only in the front) that give the Epsilon II-based Caddy confident stopping power:

The GM Authority Take

We could do without the comparison to the Mercedes Benz C-Class, even though we fully understand that this ad is a branding play meant to improve Cadillac’s image, especially when compared to the Germans. But hey, the Audi A6 is fair game… and nothing says it better than this line: “the confidence of a race car can be felt in its power, handling, and in its brakes”. Is the XTS the whole package?

  1. I think he said Mercedes E-Class not C-Class.

    1. It’s rather difficult to make out whether he said C or E… but upon listening to that spot several times again, I’m starting to think that you’re right.

      1. It took me a few times to really tell the difference. I just don’t know why they would compare a C-Class and an A6 in the same sentence.

  2. i like what they are insinuating here; that said this is the type of commercial which will have EVERY ‘car guy in the know’ rolling their eyes in disgust – i was only able to resist for all of 3 seconds before i did.

then i have to wonder. who is the audience for this commercial? because most non-car peeps i know don’t even care or know what Brembos are. and if they did, who really says to themselves “ya know i really wish my 4000+lbs luxo cruiser had Brembos”

    1. They may not care about Brembo as a brand, but they want to know that their lux sedan has all the “bells and whistles”. All about the image!
