As the Cadillac ATS arrives at dealerships over the next few weeks, customers will finally be able to experience the work engineers have put into making the compact sport luxury sedan sound like it means business. To accomplish the particular sound tuning reflective of the Cadillac brand, engineers spent time with an ATS strapped to a chassis dynamometer in GM’s anechoic chamber, where a lot of noise vibration testing is performed.
It’s in the anechoic chamber that engineers usually hear the different noises produced by a car, at which point it’s important to drown out the unwanted sounds for the more desirable notes, such as the ATS’ exhaust melody. Take a listen for yourself:
To hear more of the ATS’ exhaust note, check out the launch commercials of the ATS in Morocco and Patagonia.
