It seems that the changing of Opel figureheads is not all that’s in the works for the recent boardroom shakeup, as German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung has reported that up to 500 in Opel/Vauxhall management — all with six-figure euro salaries — could face the end of their careers in the coming the coming months. Reportedly included are even directors and divisional heads.
That’s not to say that they won’t be compensated, however, as Opel Supervisory Board sources told the publication that those who face the cut would be offered attractive severence packages so that they would leave the company on their own.
What’s more, Opel’s newly appointed deputy chairman Dr. Thomas Sedran stated that the company will abide by the commitments made to unions and employees during the ongoing restructuring process.
