Virginia International Raceway is a far cry from the Nur-burger-king-ring, but the short track still serves as a great measure for performance. And the new 2013 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE was able to lay the track time down in an eye-opening 2:58.34.
What makes that time so significant? It dusts its rival Ford Mustang Boss 302 around the track by 4.46 seconds. And that’s not just any Boss 302, but the special Laguna Seca edition. In fact, the time is so quick that it’s a mere 0.3 seconds away from the time posted by the exotic Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, but still five seconds behind it’s big brother, the 580-horse Camaro ZL1.
Below is a video capturing the event.
funny how during the car and driver lightning lap issue the 1LE was only like .5 secs faster than the boss LS, but here it’s almost 5 secs. Same c&D drivers and the GM and Ford are like neck and neck. So, yeah, this is pure crap. Factory Ford driver driving a Boss would easily slash 4-5 secs off the Boss LS time. Nice try.
