If you’ve already seen our Facebook page, you may have taken notice that GM Authority is present at the 2012 Belle Isle Grand Prix. It’s loud, it’s chaotic, and it’s awesome. And as we do here on the Ultimate Independent Destination for Everything General Motors, we will provide you all of the racing coverage and live photos of Cadillac Racing, the Corvette Daytona Prototypes, and even the Chevy-powered IndyCar racing machines.
This afternoon features the first race of the SCCA Pirelli World Challenge (officially called the “Cadillac V-Series Challenge at Belle Isle”) featuring the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe racing team, at 2:45 PM ET. Johnny O’Connell posted the second fastest time in the GT class during practice yesterday behind Volvo, while Andy Pilgrim came in fourth. So if all goes without catastrophe, Cadillac should have a pretty good weekend.
Later in the day will be the Grand-Am Chevrolet 200 at 5:00 PM ET, with Corvette DP race cars sweeping the top four spots in qualifying, with Jon Fogarty in the No. 99 GAINSCO Auto Insurance Corvette Daytona Prototype. This race will also mark the inaugural Grand-Am race at Belle Isle.
